Best exhaust for 997.1 S or better
Anyone who has put an after-market exhaust system on their 997.1 S+, what did you go with and why?
I am considering adding some noise and extra horsepower to my '06 C4S.
Talk to me gentlemen!

Welcome. Check that thread and see if that can help you get more noise of your C4S.

I have not done the trick myself, as I think my 2006 C4S is already noisy enough. My neighbors notice when I am going out at night...

I went with X51 headers, fabspeed cats, and Borla exhaust.
X51 headers are OEM and relatively cheap. They only make sense if you are gonna do cats and cans as well and complement an ecu flash that can take advantage of the extra flow. Not sure if they do much for tone or volume.
Fabspeed x pipe sport cats: biggest restriction in the exhaust is the cats. Add volume and tone and better flow. A little bit deeper tone than AWE cats I believe and maybe a smidge less volume.
I went with Borla cans b/c I love the tone, its a deep grumble and burble especially when you take you foot off the gas and they just sound mean. They did drone pretty bad until I added the cats, then the drone disappeared below 2000 rpm.
Hope that helps.

I have a Tubi. It's quiet below 3000 rpm and wakes up to a more European/PSE type of sound above that. No drone whatsoever. I chose Tubi because I like the PSE/European type of sound. It's a little louder below 3000 rpm now with the addition of the S/C. On top of that, it's a very light exhaust...about 15-16 lbs per side, IIRC. Substantially lighter than OEM, and much lighter than PSE. It's expensive; however, compared to other aftermarket ones.

FVD header,exhaust and Evoms intake
I installed the FVD header and exhaust with the Evoms cold intake. Sound really good after 3000rpm, have a
high pitch sound. Love it. 06 911S.

It's beginning to sound like AWE is the best choice. Is the sound ever underwhelming? I'm worried about dropping ~4-5k into something that isn't noticeable.
The feedback I'm generally hearing is that the new note is on point - louder and satisfying, and the speed gains are aggressive (given you buy the exhaust and the cats).

Another full AWE set-up here. Very, very happy. Great quality and just the right volume and tone.
Lots of threads on this subject but at the end of the day, most important thing is to try to listen in person.

+1 AWE Cats & Cans. Beautiful construction, welds look like a "stack of dimes" Fantastic sound and NO Drone (top up or down). WOT in sport mode makes me laugh like a fool. Civil when you want it to be. Butt Dyno says more hp and torque. I will be adding the X51 headers next for a bit more flow. BTW the install is piece of cake with a set of ramps.
good luck.
good luck.

Fabspeed here.
Best suggestion is to find people local to you and listen to their set ups first hand. Being in SoCal, there's no shortage of P-cars and likely there are many exhaust combinations near by. It's near impossible w/, let alone w/o, professional sound equipment to capture the true sound via video - especially if posted on the web/youtube. Your local dealer's service dept may be able to assist you with this as well (mine did by letting me know when X car came in w/ what on it).
Good luck

+1. Totally agree. Not many people run Borla, but the reason I got it over other very fine systems is that I heard it in person and decided I wanted that sound.
