That particular section of the 10 Fwy is probably denser in 911s than anywhere outside Germany, and often jammed both ways at rush hour. Maybe P wanted to test the car on the actual daily commute of a measurable percentage of 991 customers.

Here's the vid... Not too much to see since my wife didn't film for long, but you can hear my school boy excitement, her confusion, then her warning me not to crash. 
I think the brake lights have stickers on them, so the lights near the exhaust may be auxilary brake lights for testing.
