I agree. That's why its even more important to get the final product right .

Bottom line, the new 997.2 Turbo's are hugely tantalizing... especially as a "do everything, under any conditions Porsche".
Keep in mind that the tuned older models are still the ones breaking the records . It's the tuned cars which have transformed the older stock cars dramatically (reducing lag , providing linear power which does not let off at the top end of redline ..it merely slams into the next gear) .

Yet it's the new car which comes almost almost complete stock,

So it really boils down to whther one likes to modify the car or wants a very nice package right out of the box.

Here's a good example of the explosive burst of power in a modded turbo . The yellow camera car gets passed by the Turbo at 8 seconds . There is also another car in front of the Turbo.

They all downshift into the first turn and slowly cruise through the second until they hit the straight away .. then it's bye bye ..

You guys were working late last night! I had an 08 C4S which only makes ~250 - 275 hp between 7,000 - 10,000ft elevation which is where I live. All the mods in the world, short of adding forced induction, probably would not restore it to much more than 300 hp. On the other hand, for about what I could have spent for mods, I upgraded to the turbo and it's power loss at altitude is negligible and can easily, safely and (relatively) inexpensively be improved beyond stock numbers.

Because of the forced induction, it is a handful on the track. Unlike an airport runway (or your local freeway, apparently) where you can pin it and go, when the turbos spool up as you pass a corner's apex and head for track out, you have to be careful not add so much power so as to run out of track space or exceed tire adhesion limits. It takes time to develop a feel for this and, I think, it's quite possible that a driver will likely be measurably slower in a turbo than in a comparable NA car until their skills are well developed. Best,

Yeah thats awesome.

I will be honest and say that I have a proposed course of action for modded 997.1 TT... modded of course. I need to drive a stock one first.

I can almost gurantee that you will be bored with the stock car . The software, intake , exahust and intercoolers .. made a very nice jump but it wasn't until I upgraded the Turbos that it really became off the charts incredible .

I have pictures of my build but two very long threads (in the Tubo section) .
BTW .. if you ever make it to South Florida .. send me a PM . A few guys here have seen my car in detail.

There's this you tube video of a similar car that might condense viewing time . Sharky did a beautiful job !!!
