2008 C4S or 2012 Cabriolet Black Edition

2008 C4S or 2012 Cabriolet Black Edition
Looking to make a decision today.
Realize that I am talking about two fairly dramatically different price points.
C4S - 30K miles/$70K
Black Edition - $95K ($5K off sticker or 5% above invoice)
Performance similar (other than AWD on the 4S). Black Edition is more well equiped and a limited edition vehicle that I would be purchasing locally. C4S is nicely equiped (no NAV or XM radio, no air suspension), but would be purchasing from remote dealer.
Which way would you go?

As you said, two different cars. I have a C4s and love it. AWD makes a diff in the way the car feels, but I love the way it takes sweeping turns and drives in wet weather.
I personally don't like paying extra money for options/features that I won't use. Sorry, Black edition does nothing for me. A 2008 is under warranty until 2012 only one year or is it a CPO?

CPO. I too had liked the idea of a 4S for many of the reasons you state above.
However, given that it is not going to be a daily driver and the fact that I plan to keep it for awhile, caused me to consider the Black Edition.

08 c4s or 2012 c2 cab black edition... hmmm.
i would choose neither..
the o8 c4s w/o nav with over 30k miles for $70k ? too many miles for too much money, IMO.
c2 cab black edition is good value (u get alot with pkg deals) but still not enough car for the money.. once again, IMO.
step up to the GTS (what's another $10-15 grand..lol) or find a better equipped used Pcar.
but out of the two above.. the newer c2 cab.

I haven't followed the market for pricing but I paid $75K for a well optioned 08 C4S w/ 1,500 miles (no typo) in Sept. 2009. I'm sure the recession/crash had something to do with that but I think you should be able to do better. I then traded it on my current Turbo 8 months later.......Good luck!

I would do neither. The 08 is too high a price for the miles and the black edition will not be anything special down the road. I passed on an 08 C4S at $68K (asking price) from a Mercedes dealer that is affiliated with my Porsche dealer (non-CPO) and it had 7200 miles on it with all the right options and then some.
I would keep shopping.

I'd get a 2009/2010 C2S or C4S if you really have to have the 4WD.. Could get a 2009 C2S in the 70's.

2012 911 Black Edition
Well, after much deliberation and review of the various pieces of insight received (thank you all), I made the decision and put down a deposit for Black Edition 911.
Whereas I recognize that it lacks the power and driving experience of the Turbo, GTS, and even the 4S, in addition to the financial irrationality (purchasing new versus preowned given market and depreciation/resale), att the end of the day, it came down to the fact that I really loved the car(looks, styling, feel, drive) and wanted it for my first convertible.
Pick it it up this weekend. I can honestly say (having given myself a 24 hour rip cord to bail in case I changed my mind after deposit) that I am both pleased and really looking forward to owning the vehicle.

Fortunately, I have to go on business trip this week so I have a natural "barrier" to tide me over. Test drove it last weekend and went a couple rounds of negotiation (since I was truly prepared to move on given this is going to be a weekend/occasional driver for me so I was in no rush).
Nice to be amongst the league of extraordinary gentlemen (and ladies).
