difficulty fueling up 2006 c4s

Hi,
I just bought a 2006 c4s. Is there a tricking to fueling at the gas station. I have to push really hard into the gas tank and hold it to prevent the pump from constantly stopping. This happens every time I am refueling. Any special tricks for fueling?

rotate the gas pump 90 degrees or 180 degrees
not sure why this works.

Cali - I figured - must be something with the pumps there as I have read about this several times. Here in the South, I just hang it in the filler hole, engage the auto hold/release and let it go...

I have the attendant rotate the pump handle to 9 o'clock.

(eheheh, in Oregon it is against the law to pump your own gas )

Sometimes I actually wish I could pump my own gas - like when the station is busy and I'm just sitting there, waiting for someone to come over to my car. Thank goodness for smartphones!!

(DPE wheels on the car, better pics here if you're interested).

I have the same problem on my '02 C4S in FL. I started holding the handle upside down when pumping about a year ago, and have not had a problem since. It does not stop until the tank is full (so full that you really can't even top off without spilling fuel.)

One hint I will offer for anyone starting to employ this technique:

Tip the nozel upside down away from the car for a second before fueling. There is always some gas still in the nozel that ends up spilling on the car.

Is there a penalty for pumping your own gas or can you even activate the pump without attendent intervention? What about having the attendent stand by while you fill the car - is that possible?

Wow! Something Oregon has in common with New Jersey.

Thanks for everyones help. I have to try the 180 turn on the pump next time I fill up. I also miss the full service stations in Cali

I used the 180 degree nozzle-turn technique today. Worked perfectly! Thanks.

I've owned my '09 C4S since November and didn't have any issues until about 2 weeks ago. The pump would consistently stop at 3/4 full (by the gauge). I dorked around and came up with the same 90-degree turn fix. Seems to work.
