Low Oil Pressure?
#46
Just curious.....doesn't replacing the oil pump involve dropping the motor, opening the cases, and really getting into it, like tearing the whole thing apart? I'm not a motor guy but that's what it seemed like when I was/am getting mine rebuilt. The fragments in the filter are not good. I think you are looking at a total rebuild with whatever parts they can salvage or a replacement motor. My only advice is to make sure whomever is doing the work has done it many times before. The assurance, "I can do it", doesn't mean diddly. Most independents rely on changing oil and brakes to make a living and even if a one or two man shop has the cognitive skills to do the job, they can't irritate everyone else while they work on yours for a couple of weeks, ie it will take a long, long time.....best

As I understand it there is a bypass in the oil filter that operates if filter is clogged. Everything gets dumped back into the motor. That would likely have happened here judging by the pix. Probably rebuild time. Wonder what the service records look like if the filter is any indication. Obviously no one looked into the filter before putting money into this. I feel like something is missing in this story.
And it was very good no serious problem or oil pressure issue , on interval every 5k there was service but the strange is last service was on 65k km (major service ) and I bought the car 84k km around 20k km without record.

It's look like rebuild time , I went to the dealer and I checked the service history
And it was very good no serious problem or oil pressure issue , on interval every 5k there was service but the strange is last service was on 65k km (major service ) and I bought the car 84k km around 20k km without record.

As others have said I am afraid you are right. Get price for rebuild vs remanufactured from factory. If you have any doubts about the workmanship of your technician (maybe you should???) I would go with the remanu. You can search LN Engineering and Jake Raby and get an idea of what experienced professional charges for these options. Best guess is that it is indeed from main bearings, maybe motor was run w/o oil before you got it. Sad that you put money into the motor before they found the mess. Ask the dealer to help you here since it sounds like they sold you this expensive problem. Btw, where are you. KSA?
And here is some pic I found it on the net
Rod bearings:
Crankshaft bearings:
And here it is new :
And for KSA stand for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ( Saudi Arabia )

Yes. You would think that this is due to a lubrication failure and occurred over time. The question I guess is when it started and why. If you serviced it properly I would go back to where I bought it and talk nicely to them This kind of failure and the recent work done on the motor makes things very complicated as to determining causation or placing blame if it matters at all.

Same issue
I have a 997 2006S Convertible with 64K - same readings. Glad to see I am not the only one, but my car does burn about a quart of oil every 3K - checking into that.
