I'm sure you'll get feedback all over the place. Most will say - do what makes you happy - who cares about anyone else. Others will have you consider re-sale value, etc. Others will say poseur.
Here's my take on those things:
- GT3 bodykit: since the Aerokit is a Porsche options, I think OEM looks don't make you a poser unless you add the badging. I think that would be in bad taste. I think .2 makes more sense than .1, for the looks alone vs trying to pretend like you have a later model car. I'd like to add a .2 rear bumper and center exhaust, but I need to put aside some coin.
- LEDs. I think this is fair game, and I'd ask folks who think there's a problem with it, if they have clear side markers or other small enhancements. This would be a similar enhancement, IMHO. Again, I personally think it's more about improving the look than pretending to have a later model car. I'd like to invest in the rear LEDs, but I don't see a reason to bother with the front.

Yea thats what i was thinking... its strickly for looks. To me its just a body kit upgrade. I have it lowered and have blacked out 19s. It will go with my theme.
Im getting a deal on a kit... but thanks for the offer.

i am pretty consistent in my opinion that stuff like this is just a waste of money and if you want 997.2 GT3 - save a bit more money, sell your '06 and get a gt3 car. or just deal with what you have and enjoy it.

I agree ... either save up and buy a GT3 or buy a house . Otherwise, waste of hard-earned $$$ ...

i look at it from this angle - 99% of outside crowd cannot tell gt2 car from my cheap base carrera, with wing or without. most of inside crowd would only smile at attempts to put different body parts. plus overall, complete conversion for aero purposes with gt3 bumpers on street car requires a lot of work - gt3 plumbing, radiators, ducts, or it will make car aero overall much worse actually. so only practical way to proceed with it is - if you think you need aero on a street car - get a stock porsche aero kit for 'S' car. now bigger question is - what will that aero kit actually do?
i asked that question quite many times and overall result is - it does not do very much. actual lap times diffs of street cars with aero or without were quite negligent. 'real aero kit' is something you can see on a cup car - proper front splitter sitting at 4-5cm top from end of front blade to the pavement, and huge cup car rear wing protruding to the level of the top of the car. that makes considerable downforce that allows you to use different enough suspension setup to utilize those 'aero benefits'.

Where's the part about it looking frikkin awesome!! I've daily-driven modded 911's since 1999 and I can tell you that the out or in crowd might not be able to tell what model it is, or what model-year it is, but they will know that it looks sick, or tame, depending on the car.
Some people might not care about that - but there are plenty here that can appreciate the aesthetics of a modded car, whether it's the sound, the aero, lowered, the wheels, etc.

Poser here lol, Not really, I think the 997 is a beautiful car but it doesn't look sporty enough. That all changes with the body kit, it really looks like a race car with it. As a kid, I've always like cars like the F40, big wing, low, wide tires, etc., it looks very racy, makes me feel like a race car driver. For a few grand more, I could have purchased a real GT3 but then I will waste money buying the GT3RS wing, get two more seats in there.
I really like the LED lights, saw a 997.2 this morning behind me, the LED's really stand out, the rear lights looks better as well. I don't think you are a poser by getting a body kit, however re-badging it and adding GT3 decals will.

Your car. Don't fix it up for someone else. Do to it what you like and enjoy it. Put GT3 badges on if you like. Your money, your ride. Nobody would say it doesn't look great. If somebody thinks you're a poser, tell them to EAFD! BTW, a GT3 is not an option for me because I need the rear seats. Many are in the same boat.
