Updates Complete!

A few weeks back I posted a question regarding a few upgrades I was considering for my 997.2. Several of you chimed in and gave your thoughts (thank you!)

I'm proud to say the updates are complete and I picked up my car earlier today! I got the paddle shifter steering wheel and the Sport/Sport Plus software update!

Wow what a difference! I haven't had to much time to toy with it but so far, huge difference with a push of a button! Sport Plus is overly aggressive for day-to-day driving, but Sport ... Just right

Launch control: freaking amazing! I'll probably never use it, but it is so cool for those far and few times.

And the paddle shifters ... What a joy over those buttons!! They look uber bad *** too. I have to admit, I've always longed for a car with paddles ever since Ferrari introduced them in consumer cars 12 years ago or so. Just wasn't willing to go for an automatic until the PDK came along.

Anyway, just thought I'd share!

Ha, I'm extremely content with the car the way it is now. The only other thing I might consider would be the PSE, but that's doubtful. I think I'd be happier with the $3300 bucks in my pocket lol

Next upgrade will most likely be a CPO Turbo S sometime around the 2013/2014 time frame. Unless the wife decides to upgrade the family by adding a child lol

Famous last words...

congrats on the upgrades. To me, PDK shouldn't be made available without SC.

Ha, so true! Well, for now I'm content, but I suppose I won't hold my breath.

One thing I did notice this morning on the way to work ... wanted to ping it off of you guys here:

My steering wheel doesn't seem to be perfectly centered. This is frustrating to say the least. It's ever so slight - but enough that I notice it and it bothers me. Quite frankly, I'm tired of going back and forth to the dealer. Is this something I can wait to fix until my next service or will it affect the wear on my tires unevenly? Will it get worse over time?

How does something like this get missed?

Those are pretty much the exact upgrades I want to make to my 09 S. Probably starting with the sport / sport plus package. I've seen the software priced online in the $1200 range plus labor. Do you recall how many hours were required for installation?

Definitely get it, you'll love it. Suncoast has it listed for $1200 including the new button pack that you'll need. I got my local dealer to match their prices. I also had them commit upfront for 1 hour of install time for the steering wheel and 1 hour for the software. It probably took less to be honest, but get an upfront commitment. If they quote more than 1 hour, then they're BSing you.

Is that an upgrade from a 997.1 steering wheel with tip?

No, it's on my 997.2 PDK. The stock steering wheel has the shift buttons instead of paddles. You can also have a multi-function steering wheel that has PCM controls, bluetooth controls, etc ... wasn't interested in all of that, just wanted my paddles.

I'm not sure if this wheel is available on a 997.1 Tiptronic.

I would do this mod too if they came with a heated function.

Looks great!
