Techart rear spoiler

Techart rear spoiler
Hi,
Ive just fitted te Techart type 3 rear boot spolier (without instructions) and am now left with a redundant fan. Is this an engine cooling fan, as I was thinking of leaving it off? Also I get a raised brake light failure message each time I start. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

The raise brake light error can be fixed by the dealer with PIWIS. They just need to code for a fixed spoiler. See my previous thread here, which has the specifics. Also, to get the rear 3rd brakelight to still function, you need a different wiring harness (details also in same thread).
Not quite sure what you mean by redundant fan - the TA came with one already? The fan that is attached to the rear decklid does act as an engine compartment cooling fan. For my wing, it was just bolted on to the new decklid.
HTH,
Ron

Thanks v much for that. The Techart didnt come with a fan, but I had to replace the whole decklid which meant removing the old fan and harness. Do I have to refit the fan (somehow) to the new spoiler with the original harness and just tape up any redunadant connections? What exactly is the fans pupose?
Thanks

Well, my GT3 wing was a complete decklid replacement as well. It came predrilled/tapped for the fan. If the TA decklid doesn't have holes, I'm sure a bodyshop could do it for you and attach fasteners. The fan cools the engine when the compartment is hot, and it also cools the compartment after you shut the car off if it's still too hot.
BTW, just taping up the remaining leads (which my bodyshop originally did, and are likely the spoiler motor and 3rd brakelight in spoiler leads) will work fine - but you'll still get a fault in 1) spoiler deployment failure and 2) raised brakelight failure. As stated above, you can clear with PIWIS. However, the 3rd brakelight (the one above the decklid) will still not light up without changing the wiring harness. Again, see my prior thread, it has the specific part number you need to use. It was easy to switch out.
