iphone/ipod cable placement

i'm going to get a retailer to install the dension gateway 500. where does everyone recommend putting the cable to plug the phone into? in the dash compartment under the heating controls? in the centre console cubby? i don't want it in the glove box.

i've installed the whole system, including the ipod holder, where the CD changer used to be.

i didn't want the ipod accessible from the inside the car, in case i ever valet it or something... and i didn't want the hassle of removing it everytime i leave the car.

plus, once i connect the ipod to the dension, i can pretty much control everything from the PCM..

If you have a dedicated iPod, I would put it in the frunk. I have the cable also going into the cabin and exiting out of the ashtray. I have been thinking of this dock (http://specdock.com), but it is expensive.

The spec dock looks to be a good alternative. However, i am kind of wondering if it would be too flimsy and should i knock over the ipod, would it break the docking set.
