EddieK997 is infamous around these parts
On the track, of course there is no comparison. On the street the difference shouldn't be night and day. morning/afternoon perhaps but.......

300 miles later and all is well.
Tires feel a lot better, car is stable again.

Now, Watkins Glen in 3 days... on with the Sport cups

Yep, really looking forward to it.
I love NJMP for it's convenience but Tbolt and Lightning don't have the flow of the Glen.

BTW... I saw your post looking for GT3 Seats, I'm about to pull the trigger on a Track car so will have my (Black leather) seats available. They have sliders and fit nicely in my 05 997.

Everything said about the tires so far is true, but I agree with this statement the most.

My 997 (05) was running 265/35/18 rear and 235/40/18 fronts with good results, nice handling and feedback. Had nail in one of rears, got it patched then had nail in other and lost all confidence in the tires. SO, i went with 285/35/18s in rear (Hankook ventus v12's) and am now experiencing understeer. A lot of understeer. It's probably due to the older, rubber on the front not being as responsive as the rears but also possibly the size/diameter difference and was thinking of going with 245s on the front. My basic calculations tell me that the diameter difference is 1.75% with 14 R/P/Mile difference. If I goto 245's the difference will be 0.55% and +5 RPmile.
My questions are - will my stock 997 8inch 18's handle the 245's without tire rub (factory rims with 57 offset) and is the new understeer more due to new/old rubber (also different manufacturer (I already know that I probs should just replace the fronts to match the rears)) or should I get 235's and hope the understeer just goes away with new rubber.

Any advice you can give is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
to put some things in perspective i now drive on 245 tires in front and 335 tires in rear. next setup will be 275/335, all on 9"/12" wide 18" rims.

on stock 8/10 rims you can do 245/295 just fine. I had hoosiers A6 in those sizes. but i would say 235/275 or 235/285 is better choice for street, overstaggered setup will only wear off faster and not give much bang per nuck. get direzza star spec z1 or RE11 tires in 235/275 or 235/285 and enjoy.

if you feel you got understeer - check alignment, make sure you got max possible negative camber in front (-1.1 deg in stock), then experiment with what rear camber you like best - considering -1 deg front you can use from -1 to -1.5 deg in rear. easy enough fix is to put GT3 or GT2 sway bars (both rear and front) - that will help you to correct understeer/oversteer a lot and will improve street car a lot too as it will stop rocking like a boat.

That sounds like a lot of tire for a 997. It's possible to over tire a car.
