The Auto Gallery-Avoid this 09 C2

FYI to all,

Avoid this 09 C2 PDK Blk\Blk with VIN number posted below. It has body damage, orange peel paint, cracked bumper, over spray from body repairs, missing and damaged parts, smashed headers etc. Car should be auctioned off not CPO'ed by a Porsche dealer. They tried to sell this to me as a CPO. What a sham.

If a car has that type of damage, how can it even make it through the CPO process? This story is fishy from several different angles...

there are limitations on how much damage is allowed before a car can be CPO'd. I don't know exactly the guidelines.

However cars that are resprayed can be CPo'd.

Hilarious! We used to just call that redlining... Now a fraction of a second at redline and people act like a car was driven daily on the highway in first gear...

Shouldn't the CPO process have caught the car's missing/damaged parts as the OP stated? We just bought a CPO BMW that had inoperative power outlets with the missing plastic caps, a missing 2nd key, and a broken cupholder (all fixed by warranty of course). But it's interesting that a "comprehensive" 100+ point inspection failed to catch details like that... I wonder if certain dealers even do the required maintenance (oil change, brake flush, etc.) at the specified intervals when a car is up for CPO certification.

As for the Auto Gallery, I was looking at their inventory when I was shopping for my first P-car, but I ended up not buying from them b/c they were overpriced and incredibly snobby on the phone.

cpo is nothing more than a warranty. if you believe cpo inspection is remotely useful, you're kidding your self.

even some ppi are useless. it's important to understand what is being inspected. don't trust a shop you haven't dealt with. when it comes to an expensive car, always question everything.

I'm not sure it ever went through the CPO process although I have emails stating it did and pictures to prove it did not. I never finalized the purchase because of the fishy nature of the deal and the body damage, missing and damaged parts. Everything was done by phone except for the paper work and it wasn't until it was delivered when I found all the problems. Fortunately I had options and bailed from the deal.

The General Sales manager who was not part of the deal agreed to make things right but after seeing the car posted for sale again on their site just one week later it prompted me to post and write a letter to PCNA about my experience.

Run from this car and dealer. Find a good reliable shop that performs PPI's and do not trust just Carfax or what anyone tells you or emails you. The Porsche CPO process is not bullet proof. My dad always said DEALERS are STEALERS.

Makes me wonder how people on this site buy cars site unseen and are told they are buying a CPO car.

I have 2 experiences with this dealer.

The first was when they PPI my private party purchase and offered to provide a CPO. But after the PPI, they wanted almost $4K for the CPO plus questionable items for them to pass CPO (new rear tire, 20K service, brake flush, etc). Good thing was the PPI revealed the RMS and that was fixed as part of warranty. I continued with the private party purchase and purchased an aftermarket extended warranty from another dealer. AG left a bad taste in my mouth because they promised the moon and delivered pretty much nothing unless I paid them the ransom.

My second experience was their Spring Clinic this past May- I know...seems like a marketing ploy. I liked the idea of having a Porsche Tech inspect the vehicle while I am present. I was able to ask all the questions that were burning on my mind - this was worth the drive. I got the readings for my brake linings and tire wear, plus the recommendations on services (spark plugs & brake fluid flush). The Porsche Tech, Jeremy, was very personable and gave very good information. This was a very good experience. They even gave out a gift for showing up - a Porsche mug and key fob. I would do this one again.

So the message is to stay alert and guarded - a dealer, regardless of the plaque on the outside, is till there to make as much money as possible. The trick os the find a dealer which fits your philosophy.
