Aspheric Mirrors

Aspheric Mirrors
Has anyone tried installing the aspheric mirrors on their 997 yet? These are OEM wide angle side mirrors that are standard on German spec cars. I lived in Germany and drove the autobahn a lot and they really make a difference as far as increasing the field of vision and eliminating blind spots.
I installed these on my Audi TT and it was a huge improvement. I see where Suncoast has them for $97 each so I'm odering up a set. Just wondering how hard these are to install on the 997? On the Audi you carefully pried the old ones out and just snapped the new ones in.
Oh yeah, they have them in both standard and auto dimming styles. The std's are $97 each and the auto dimming ones are like $500 each, so I'm going with the std ones

I had these on my TT as well, made a world of difference especially with the huge blind spot in the TT. This link may help you since it describes removing the mirrors: http://www.macarbon.com/install_guid...on%20Guide.pdf

I've done it twice on 997.1 - only difficulty was removing the very small plug that powers the dimming function. On the passenger side I just used regular convex mirror but without the US warning language

Where? That link points to the top level of the forum.

One of the best mods I've ever done to the GT3. I got mine from Suncoast. I don't have the autodimming mirrors, so they were easy to install. They give you a whole lot more vision to the sides, eliminating the blind spot and the need to look over your shoulder when changing lanes or merging. Very useful on the track also.
Highly recommended!

If you look at cannga's thread on rennteam, you'll see that there are multiple versions of the mirrors, I believe each has a version compatible with auto dimming and heating.
I personally use the aspherical drivers mirror with auto dimming, heating, and a passenger convex with the same.
Aspherical Drivers with Black plastic rim
Aspherical Drivers
Regular Drivers
Aspherical Passenger
Convex Passenger - no warning - with Black plastic rim
Convex Passenger - with warning
Then there are the updated mirrors for the bigger side view design starting in 09 as well.

With what I learned from the SAE recommendations to adjust mirrors properly, would it hurt to get the Aspherical Mirrors in addition? Is it overkill? Any down side?
Also, would you still adjust your mirrors the same way with the SAE method of adjusting mirrors if you use aspherical?
