With our 1st born on the way and little or not time to ride I figure it was the best thing to do. With less riding I found myself losing some of that confidence and skill that I use to have and on a bike that is not a good thing. Rather then be tempted to take it out once or twice a year in the crappy roads of Toronto I took the plunge to dump it. I hope to replace the Targa with a 991 in the near future, talk to you all later.

Figure that when I am semiretired with plenty of time to do those day trips I will get back into it.
Hey congrats on the coming of the first born!
I'm kinda in the same boat... ehmmm bike that is, oh and minus the first born .

Have a beauty of bike but since getting into cabs 6 years ago I ride it less and less (down to 3 x a year now).
Getting the $$ you wanted is excellent, bikes don't seem to sell the way they used too.
Never mind getting what I'd ask... I'd be happy if someone gave me 50% !
That said, with a 120K invested in it... this not a likely scenario
Re the Targa, guess you're like me (mine is a 991 C4S cab) we'll have to be a bit more patient.

Cheers!

It's not the rider, it's the idiots on the street. Most MC accidents are caused by people just not paying attention and turning the rider into a grease spot. Your lucky to have the P-car as an option. Targa's are awesome.

Its super hard to do, the pick up of my bike is today and I can barely sleep. I dreamed of this bike for years and now I am selling it Bahh... I figure that if I miss it that much I will pickup another in the future sometime.

Big numbers hehe... i was complaining about the fact that to drive it a couple of times a year I was having to pay almost just as much in insurance as my Targa - worth it, or not?? Only time will tell..

Hmm.. in 2010 I witnessed a crazy accident (literally right in front of me) the rider went completely off the road and was wild on the accelerator losing control of the bike.

Then in 2011 (summer) saw 2 crashes caused by cars smashing into the bikes. One went to the hospital the other who knows how he faired out. The thing with bikes is you need to get out of the city and go to those wonderful roads. The problem with that is you need time and the only day I have to myself is Saturday, so between Golf, work, new house stuff, see my dad (mom passed a while back) your torn on what to do. Its like there really never is enough time and you need to start picking hobbies.

Another thing and this might sound a little "snobbish" I never really met people like me that rode. Half the guys that I was riding with were unemployed or had nothing in common with me (nice change at times), none of my super close friends ride anymore (well 1 or 2 do but we barely get out) - they all have nice cars instead. Dunno I think that to ride a bike properly you need to be a bachelor or semi-retired. Either way I did not sell the gear, I figure that if and when I get the itch again I jump on someone's bike for a quick spin.

And finally my wife doesn't love it on the back. I think in the future when and if I have more time to do this I will get a bike she can comfortably sit on the back of, I have a feeling with my new son on the way that won't happen for a long time.

Very sorry to hear about your Mom!

Bikes have always been my wings and I think men like that rebellious image attached to it.
The fact that it's dangerous (which it is) adds to the manly man aspect of it but you get to a point where it just becomes the idea of it... the reality is that I get that same sense of freedom from driving a F360 cab 0r 991 cab now.

It's totally infantile but whenever I used to see a group of bikes I'd wish I had by bike to show off , ridiculous really
Oh boys will be boys!

So if ya ever feel the need to put your life in danger... you can always take mine for a spin ... but you brake it, ya buy it.
Hey maybe I can get full price for mine after all

Cheers!

Agreed across the board. Frankly, when my first child was born I felt much more mortal and scared of the "what if" on my bike. Now I have three little ones running around and I won't even go for a quick joyride on someone else's bike from time to time... My 911 C2S is all the fun I need .
