What does the "Sport" button do?
What does the "Sport" button do in this 997.1?
Please go easy on me, I'm still new and trying to learn all I can before I buy my first Porsche 997.
At first I thought it had something to do with the "Chrono Sport Package" and the suspension and then I thought maybe the car had the "Porsche Sport Exhaust".
Thanks in advance...

Depending on the car you buy, it typically increases throtle response (if you have PDK this is a must IMO because it also controls shift times), however, it can also engage the suspension and the Porsche Sport Exhaust. In my car (GT3) it just makes it louder. For any non-GT3 I would consider it a must have - just my opinion based on experience.

It depends on how the car is optioned.
On any car with the sport button it changes the throttle map for a quicker response. To me the car seems to get "angry". LOL
If you have PASM, it also changes the suspension settings to a more firm ride.
PSE (Sports Exhaust) has a seperate button.
There is a lot (and I mean a lot) of great information on this forum. With just a little bit of searching you will learn a lot!
Cheers!

From the picture that is correct. Sports/Chrono, no PASM, no PSE

I had asked the same question and you may find this thread useful:

To my surprise, a lot guys don't use Sport mode. After hearing that, I tried not using it myself, and not using it has become my default now. I figure that if Sport mode isn't increasing torque and power anyway, I can just mash the throttle more if I want more response.

Given this config, the Sport button should increase throttle response but have no effect on suspension firmness or exhaust sound.
And for what it's worth, every time I start up my car, I go through a Pre-Flight Checklist:
Sport ON
PASM OFF (too firm for daily driving)
PSE ON
Whether it's a Tip, PDK or Stick, the Sport button just makes the throttle livelier....and more FUN.

I have a manual and when I press the sport button the shock button also lights up at the same time. Suspension gets stiffer and accelerator is more sensitive so you don't have to push down as deep to get the car moving faster. No difference in power unfortunately.

Sport button activates PASM too so it's working as it's supposed to.
