Need help with deciding on turbo kit from tpc

I have a 2008 targa 4 I'm trying to deciding if I should turbo the car or maybe invest in a 997 turbo but I love the targa, need more power tho. Has anyone had the tpc kit installed on a 997 and are you happy with it, what type power are you getting.

As you can see in the videos I posted it turns the can into an animal! The smooth application of torque is very linear all the way to redline. You do get addicted though . . . LOL

Yeh you can say that again it's a monster on the track. I'm kinda of torn between what to do, I think I need to experience the ride first to get a perspective of the power gain.

It basically adds over 100 rwhp to the car. It stays as linear as your power curve is now but just faster. It is smooth and easy off boost and extremely fast and pleasing on boost.

I've ridden in factory 911 turbos and they have some lag then a sudden burst of acceleration then it tapers at the top. It is not as linear as the TPC kit IMHO. If you look at the dyno curve you will see what I'm talking about.

I agree with Doc, what turbo lag? It's fun and the speed is addicting. It's a no brainer if you want more hp.

Funny, I have a red Targa too and am looking at the same issue. I've really grown accustomed to having the light from the glass top, so I'm more likely to mod than buy a turbo.

by all means if you can - get a proper turbo car. it is not comparable to any bolt-on solutions on top of a street m97 motor.

True but some people can't or don't want to pay the additional $25-35K for a factory turbo car on top of what they are driving. In this case, he loves his Targa too much. The M97s are stronger then many people think and they have forged pistons unlike the M96. In the end, it is all in the tune.

I am still waiting for one of the companies to post some number 0-60, 1/4 mile 0-100. I am very cuorius to see how they stack up to stock 997 turbo's. I know it makes it faster but by how much?

I can tell you this, I've driven both and they are very similar to 100 speed wise. The power delivery is different and the factory turbo has some lag then it hits hard and tapers at the top. The TPC kit is strong and linear to redline. You can also look at the dyno graphs and see what I'm talking about. If you look at my videos posted you can see me running down GT3s and my wife over taking and creeping away from an Audi R8 V10. This was on a closed course.

The major differences are a TPC Carrera is lighter then the factory turbo but the factory turbo has better gearing on the top end. 6 one way/ 1/2 dozen the other.

If you plan on doing a lot of dig races or hit the drag strip enough the AWD of the factory car will be better but anything else they will be the same IMHO.
