CTS-V versus 997/991
#16
My next door neighbor did this !!!! He traded his 07 C4S for a 2010 Corvette Gran Sport then traded it 6 months later for a CTS-V. He is addicted to raw HP numbers and it does have some good HP numbers. He raves about his CTS-V (4 door) and I have been in it a couple of times. I for one don't see the comparison. If you compare it to a M5 or E63 maybe.
I for one see him trading it for a new 991 in about a year.

I wonder how many of us will shift their opinions once we start trying the new model with the not so promising electric assistance
For instance, I tried a 650 my10 and a my12, the former with a lesser engine was still far superior to drive. Electric steering turns the car numb, nothing to do with effort but lack of feedback.
Weird will be the day a caddy will have a better road feel than a 911, but I wouldn't bet all my money on this not being possible
I guess we'll wait for the serious reviews from magazines that are not in the Porsche payroll

They are are a interesting car for sure. Lots of Hp and can handle well but don't have the refinement at all that a 997 has. No comparison in my mind.
Anyone see the World Challenge race from Road Atlanta this past weekend? The CTS-V World Challenge cars are a piece of motorsports beauty. Oh, and it won the race too beating several 997 GT3s.

It is hard to compare the two. The CTS-V is fast in a straight line or merging onto the interstate but does not feel like a sports car. Sort of depends on what you really want to do with the car. As a DD with kids it might be a better option, as a toy for the weekend Porsche.

We're having our first child, and my wife is thinking (lightly) about trading in her 997 for a CTS-V sedan. She LOVES her Pcar and the way it rides/handles/steers, but her maternal instincts are slowly brainwashing her into thinking we need a sedan (we have an X3 and another 997 at home).
If you are to go with a CTS, which we also love for its performance and looks (love the angular, in-your-face style), go for the sedan or wagon. I believe the sedan weighs nearly the same as a coupe, and performance is identical. I have read that the coupe's back seat and trunk are not that spacious, although the coupe is HUGE, or at least looks like it, compared to a 997. Plus, I am not too keen of the coupe's rear vs the sedan, but that's my opinion. Anyway, the sedan will serve your needs better and is a definite sleeper to most...
