What's the deal with the passenger up feature, sometimes it starts to go up and then just goes back down on its own.

Do I have to come up part way, where? and then hit the up button again?

Press and hold the switch until the window is closed and keep holding it for another 15 seconds. This will reset the memory. Do this every couple of months.
Also make sure your window edges are clean & window tracks are clean as well.

 

Are you holding the button past the mid point? If not, you need to. The passenger window has a safety feature that prevents auto-up until past the mid-way point.

 

I'd say it has a 'design feature' that prevents it from working the way most customers would like it to.

Given my 2002 VW New Beetle has a one-touch up passenger window, whey the hell can't my 2009 Porsche. Is this some new nanny-requirement that come about since 2002?

 

The same with one touch sunroof closure, eliminated in the 997.2's

Maybe my car was modified, C2S cab, but even my passengers window is 1-touch.

 

Different for coupe - that's why I included the owner's manual info.

I beleive the smarttop modul will make it a one touch button again. Plus it can make your horn honk with you arm the alarm. Pricey at ~$200 for those to options on a coupe.

If they would get a Targa version released that allows one touch open/close of the Targa roof, I'd be willing to buy in, but not just for one-touch passenger up, and audio arm/disarm alerts.
