Dectane vs rottec back LED lights
#16
There was a group buy that just ended for the front ones at $500 including shipping. Rottec's standard price will be $580 plus $40 shipping.

I picked the Dectane over the Rotec b/c of the 100% satisfaction at the time of order. When the Rotec first came out, they had a lot of issues, with error codes, condensation, etc. They have all that problem resolved now. But I too prefer to 'OEM' look of the Dectane. If you prefer an 'aftermarket' look then Rotec is for you. There is no right or wrong, just personal preference.

Rottec Lights are great
I went with the Rotec Lights and they work flawlessly. There are absolutely no issues with them. (There were only some minor issues with the very first batch, but Ray took care of that.)
I am glad I went with the Rotec lights as there seems to be some issues with Dectane and getting warranty support with the Dectanes are a pain.

did you looked at depo ones ? any comparison of depo with dectanes?

They all have condensation depending on the environment. Apparently somebody mentioned there are drainage plugs in the Dectanes which needs to be removed in order for the condensation to evaporate. I have not had the need to do anything with mine yet since So Cal is mostly dry.

I think what YNot is conveying is that Rottec does not look like the OEM 997.2 lights, thus the "aftermarket" term, whereas, the Dectane is more similar in design as the OEM 997.2 pattern. Both are well made and look nice in their own rights.
I personally like the Dectane since it does mimic the OEM 997.2 pattern.

I personally like the look of ROTtec, but ended up with Dectane because it looked OE and was much cheaper. If ROTtec was comparatively priced, I would have chosen them instead of Dectane. At the time I could not jusify almost $900 for tail lights, today they are offered at a lower price however.

i like dectanes better than rottec in terms of OEM look.

after looking at both, I chose the dectanes for the quality, fit/finish and more of an OEM LED (997.2) look. When I found out Dectanes were made by Depo I was sold (I was very happy with the quality of Depos on my M3). Fit is perfect, no warning lights or condensation, and they look great.
that said the Rottecs look good also (just less of an OEM look). as others have said, just personal preference.

I have both the Rottec and dectane lights. Both products have good fitment and the finish on both are the same. Both were plug and play in my case (08 C4S). I did not have any issues with either products. I kept the dectane and gave the Rottec to my cousin. I like the look of the dectane more, and I know this is subjective. Hope that helps.
