Did both brands (Rottec and Dectane) sort out the error codes?

I can't tell from the threads I have read. I'd like to get front LED's and rear LED's but am concerned the error codes have not been fixed
I have the ROTtech front LED's. I was getting an error for the right side light. Put the resistor in that came with the kitand so far..no error. I also did the light switch hack...to leave the driving lights on. I'm please with the results.

I have Dectane LED's in both front and rear in my 997.1 (2205). Used the resistor packs on the rears to avoid errors from coming up. It's simply a resistor to fool the computer (increases current load) that thinks the 'bulb' is open due to the low current drain of LED lights. The fronts have resistors already integrated (according to Orange Tuning). They were simply a plug and play.

I've experienced no problem(s) with either of them since the install. Rear LED's have been in for over 7 months. Front LED's for just a week.

Thank you AP997S and Raiders for the insight!

Do all functionality work including fogs, DRL, etc?

Another question, who do you guys recommend to from for a decent price for front and for rears? I like the idea of an integrated resister, which tells me the vendor is doing something about the issue. I think I'm going to do the front first because it has a bigger impact to the appearance of my car.

Also can you send me the installations for both? The front appears straightforward but wasn't sure about the rears.

Thanks guys!

1. I have full functionality (ie. fog, directionals, parking, etc) on both front and year. Since I have an early build 2005 it doesn't have the 'Daytime Light' function. I do have Dectane module that I plan to install sometime in the near future. There is a hack out that that eliminates the need for this module. Go to https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...og-lights.html for details.

2. I bought mine from Frank @ Orange Tuning. I've had a great experience w/ them but I'm sure other suppliers are equally good. As far as pricing you'll need to do some homework to find your best price. Orange Tuning prices are 'OK' but there might be better sources here in the states or abroad.

3. Don't have step-by-step instructions but both (front & rear) are simply plug & play. Some installs don't require the resistor packs; depends on the year of the car and I guess sensitivity of the 'lamp' circuit software. Do a search on this forum and others for install and photo details. There are plenty of threads to read. Since the front DRL's have more connectors (ie. 3) a bit more connection work is involved. Mind you it's simply a removal of the existing lamp connectors and lamps and then connecting the new LED connections. Removal of the lamp assembly just requires the 'credit card' tool. The rear lights is pretty simple as well. A single screw and connector and your done.

Hope this helps.

Your right AP. The install is straight forward. I did the light hack on my DRL's and I'm very please with the results. I have ROTtech front lights and they are excellent. Any questions...PM me.

I recently bought and installed the Dectane and RoTEc rear and front LED's for 997.1, they are a great easy install upgrade. I got mine from Revolution Motorsports http://www.revoms.com/ and Zack and David were really helpful. Great pricing too and a USA based source. Simple install, the only challenge was the fronts as the city light connector requires you to use the bulb housing (the plastic bulb holder) from the OEM to plug in the connector on the RotTec unit. With no instructions supplied with either lights it was quite simple once figured out. I am really pleased with the upgrade, no problems, dashboard warnings or other issues. Now to get those Hoen LED side markers next, maybe!

They both look like OEM look, but different. If you like the light "block" layout of the 997.1 original lights but in LED format, then RotTec is similar, if you like the newer upgraded 997.2 layout OEM form, then Dectane is the choice. The Dectanes IMHO is the better LED look overall and even better since it doesn't have the tear eyed notch up they put on the 997.2 which I think they did to blend with that old style across your rear reflector they re-introduced but lasted a nano second 1 year production run before the next year model came out.

I have ROTtec front and rears and no issues. I went with this setup especially the rears because I didn't like not all the lights illuminating on the rears with a "C" type of look of the Dectanes. ROTtec lights up completely when you brake.

I've had them both...the led's in the Rottec weren't exactly aligned and I didn't like the rear fog functionality so I changed to Dectane...and since the only time I see the brake lights is a reflection in glass windows when I'm backing up, the "C" look didn't bother me - let it bother the guy behind me. Anyway, can't go wrong with either as an improvement over OEM.

The OEM 997.2 is also a C style brake, only the other way than the Dectane. I agree with jhbrennan, these cars are for >> (fast forward) don't worry about the brakes LOL!!

I know ROTtec & Dectane have the tail lights most prefer, I was going to order ROTtec, but has anyone dealt with Spyder?

Are they just cheap imitations or worth considering as an option?

Saw a set on Amazon via Spyder vendor for a real good price (< $500)
In amazon search just use 997 rear LED.
I was surprised to see so many items show up.

Does anybody have any experience with the LED tailights that Spyder sells?
