Just got a quote for a 5/60,000 CostCo Extended Warranty for.......

$2380.00! What do you guys think? Here's the deal:

5 Year/60K Miles Bumper to Bumper
Warranty starts on 11/21/2011 ends on 11/20/2016
Everything covered except the Trim, Leather, Body, Tires, Wheels, Etc.....
$100 Deductible/Transferable When You Sell Car

Anybody have this warranty? It's offered by Century Insurance. I think I want to protect myself in case something happens and I figured it keep my resale value up until I order my 991 in 2013/14.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

I just purchased today a Fidelity warranty for the same reasons. As long as it is an exclusionary policy, the Century policy works. I was on the fence but want some level of comfort when my factory warranty expires in April.

If you want to chat live, PM me your phone number.

COSTCO generally sells decent products but I'd see how much of the labor they cover. There may be a chance that the won't cover the entire labor rate. Porsche mechanics tend to be a bit pricy compared to others and the dealership, even more so.

Great price...hard because if its fairly new to all of us..no ones quite sure how coverage will be on a huge bill.

I didnt even know Costco offers this as well , especially for our cars.

Fidelity is good. They just paid about $10K for tranny replacement on my S600.

My local P-Car dealer did not want to even quote me Fidelity even thought they could sell it. My quote for some other brand that I'd not heard of was almost $6k for 3 years. Outrageous in my mind. I passed on that one right away. I'll check around for other dealers in the area on Fidelity, they have a great reputation for sure.

This is interesting. I consider COSTCO to be a good, reliable company. I am curious, however, which insurance company/program they are offering. Certainly COSTCO is not the insurance company or service provider, only the retailer for the program? Anyone know?

The insurance company that Costco is fronting is Century Insurance based on the OP message you quoted!

I do not believe it is an exclusionary policy which was very important to me!

The real test comes when you have to file a claim...

I'd curious to see how this works out as well. I'd buy it in a heartbeat at that price once my warranty expires.

By the way I know Mercury insurance and I think state farm offer extended warranty as well to its policy holders.

Look into EasyCare. You can talk to them directly and bypass the dealers.

I purchased easy care, which included wheel and tire for the length of warranty period,
From the dealer, at the time of purchase, for my 09S.
With my 06 I purchased an API warranty from a different dealer, which I never used and the company went bust.
Had I known about Costco, I might have gone with them, I didn't ask them about wheel and tire, when I inquired about a quote for my 06 Saab Convert.
Only problem is you can't negotiate price.

I had Easycare on my Honda Element, never had to use it for the 4 years it covered after OEM warranty expired. I have Fidelity on my C2S, interestingly the Fidelity platinum package was 40% less than the equivalent Easycare package with $250 deductible.
