Wow, looking at that data sheet, Porsche specs these motors to burn up to 1.6 quarts of oil every 622 miles???

Sounds like the consumption of an old Harley!

Since i believe the 996, you can buy an X51 powerkit. In my 2004, it added 25HP. For the 997.1S, it took it to 381HP (+26). For the 997.2 it adds 23HP. The GTS comes standard with it at 408HP. Its a very slight performance increase. The GTS does not have any more torque than a C2S for example. I'd take one, not sure I'd pay $17,000 for it.

 

Thinking back on my 1997 993 it drank a quart of oil about every 1k miles. Have not started to track the 997 yet, but I will now.

 

very happy the previous owner spec'd it on my C4S, but not so sure i would have paid an extra $17k for it if i had to make the decision. especially since most of the components can be bought aftermarket for much less. have to admit the CF dual inlet airbox is nice to look at tho...
