Oh snap!! Clear bra install of the decade!!
#17
I had a tinter cut my windshield with his razor during an install on an older car. Unreal.
THAT job though is horrific. I would NEVER accept the car in that condition, and the fact is there is no fixing it without a pain job which kills the resale. Wow. Dealers, always trying to save a buck. Sad.

The film is still on the vehicle as the dealership is trying to rectify the situation with the company that did the installation. We took the vehicle in because a member of the dealer (close and good guy to us) couldn't see this car going back to the same company....so he decided to send the customer straight to us.

Sorry. This is against company policy. The most we can say is there are two companies close to us that perform this type of work.

No. The company is a "certified" clear bra installer.

I scoff a bit at this thread. While I will certainly not dispute the perfection of Premier, a "mask" shield application doesn't need to be a disaster. It also will cost an owner a fraction of a custom cut job. Will it have a circle around the headlight washer? Yes, but it shouldn't be visible from 2 feet. Will it have bubbles? No. Will it have ripples? No. It might not be perfect, but you need to debate the need for perfection with the price you want to pay for some plastic wrapped around the front of your car. I'll be happy to show pics of a virtually flawless Venture Shield mask install. Bubbles are easily removed as are flawed edges. If that happens, even most Shield installers will come out, fix it and charge you nothing.
Just another perspective.
Just another perspective.

Those seams are whats known as a "relief cut". They are made when the installer cannot stretch the film or vinyl anymore to get it to lay flat.
A mask for the bumper starts off as nothing more than a big chunk of material. The best installs are not precut or shaped like anything. You stretch, sometimes heat, and squeegee down. Well, that's the basics. Maybe the times have changed, but that's the way we did it in the late 90's and early 2000's.
A good installation should have no or very minimal cutting. Especially on any of the painted surfaces.

This thread really is to show that the consumer (in this case, the new car dealership) generally is not aware that there is such a wide variance in quality. Many would assume that application of clear bras are simple and the materials are universal. This industry has expanded (more installers picking up the trade) and contracted (due to the recession, many have gone out of business), so the consumer must be aware of the potentials. When seeking out this type of work, it is imperative to perform due diligence in research and do not rely solely on pricing. New companies have to compete to gain new business. In a craft oriented industry, to compensate for inexperience, some would lower prices to become more attractive. The pitfall here...especially in this situation, is that the consumer becomes the guinea pig. Simple rule of thumb - how long has the company been performing this type of application.
