Aftermarket Warranty Options- Easycare, Fidelity, Etc..

For those with cars out of factory or not under factory warranty, who have you guys chosen to cover your 997 if so?

I have had good luck with EasyCare previously, prices have seemed to jump but I'll stay with them if I can't find anyone else.

Any recent experiences/info?

thanks

I have EasyCare, but have not needed to use it yet so cannot comment on that aspect. To me, they seemed to have a better reputation that the others.

I have fidelity, haven't had to use it but the Service manager at the local dealership said they are pretty good. I would recommend asking the shop you plan to service your car with their expereinces with claims for any company you are considering. They can prob steer you in the right direction.

I have Fidelity and replaced my RMS and IMS (seal only) without issue. Change the clutch at my cost at the time but no issue since they had it open. Just needed to pay the cost of parts for clutch and my $100 deductible. Friend of mine had to fight with Fidelity over a GT3 timing chain issue but he made out OK in the end.

I purchased an EasyCare warranty through the local Porsche dealer. My car was still under factory warranty so the price was very reasonable even by Canadian standards. I did play one dealer off on the other to get a better price. The dealers have quite a bit of leeway with the price, so I would definitely not pay list.

I put in a request to get a quote for fidelity yesterday. I received a call today from CarChex and the rep told me that Fidelity is no longer in business... Can someone verify this???

Looks like that is the case. At the bottom of their website homepage it says "This domain fidelityautomotivesolutions.com was recently purchased by CARCHEX on September 1st, 2011"

There are a few "Fidelity" companies. Most of the time when folks say Fidelity, they mean the company backed by JM&A group. http://www.fidelitywarrantyservices.com/

These guys seem to still be in business from what I can see.

I used Easy Care on my Cayenne thru Newport Auto.
Dennis Codd.
Just had an issue with the cooling lines and Easy Care stepped right up.
Use the insurance that your dealer pushes, makes it allot easier on claims.

Oh, check this out, on the Cayenne, they insisted on a three year extended warranty one year before my factory warranty was up, so I really got a two year extended warranty. Cost around $3,300 ( Turbo S) I am going naked in September 2012 on the Cayenne, I did call Easy Cary for a one year policy and they wanted $3600 per year on my 06 Cayenne, Cayenne has been great for the first 60K, wife wants to go back to a four door car time to go skinny dipping with the Cayenne.

+1. This is what my authorized dealer sells and they say they've never had an issue getting a claim paid if you have the Platinum Warranty. That's what I bought.

I did a ton of research on extended warranty companies. EasyCare and Fidelity Warranty Services (a JM&A company) are both very good.

Need to price shop at several stores. I picked up a 7 year / 70K Fidelity Platinum exclusionary policy with a $100 deductible for less than half the cost of my daily Starbucks tall black coffee. Its worth the peace of mind.

Some people confuse Fidelus (the scam artists) who advertised on TV about a year or so ago. They went out of business. Fidelity has been around for many years and administers the policies sold under Audi extended warranty and some Porsche extended warranties.

The only issue to be careful about is the wear and tear exclusion. Fidelity wear and tear exclusion kicks in after 50K miles which means if something is worn but not yet broken, (even a covered part) it can deny reimbursement. They follow the old rule "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". This is likely the same with EasyCare.
