Got a 2008 C4S with Bose speakers. Sound quality is not great, definitely not what I'm used to from Bose.
My questions:
1) Has anyone else noticed this?
2) If you replaced / tweaked the speakers in your car, what did you get and where?

hmmm... we don't know what u r talking about..

just drive for few months and u'll prob forget about the lot-to-be-desired Bose system in our car.

If you think the Bose sucks, try a stock base system in a GT3...sounds like a fork hitting the side of an empty can.

 

I definitely noticed the same lack of quality with the Bose system in my '05 Carrera. Oddly enough, I purchased the car new and had complained to the dealer that the sound on the bottom end was lacking. "Oh, they all sound that way" was the response I received. However, during a DIY mod that required me to remove the back speaker deck I discovered that the rear speakers were not even plugged in (apparently a detail missed at the factory). Lesson learned - check your connections and make sure everything is working! After connecting them, the system did sound better, but it still does not compare to the bone-stock Ford sound system in my '02 Saleen Mustang. It sounds so much better than the Porsche system that I was shocked. I have just learned to live with the Carrera sound system as it is and have made no mods to it (yet). Besides, I have a fantastic sounding Fabspeed full exhaust system that I love listening to.

 

My car has PSE. That's all the sound system I need!

 

I never really listen to the sound system even though I have the 6 cd changer as part of it. Fact is, haven't even tried the disc player in my 3 years of ownership.

To me, the radio's just background noise while stopped; I always drive with both windows down and PSE on. That way, I get full effect of all those magnificent mechanical sounds that surround me !

I don't listen to my Bose often either (08 C2S) but it does suck pretty bad. Wife just picked up a 2012 Cayenne and the Bose in there is leap and bounds better.

I guess they figure most 911 drivers like to listen to engine sound over stereo...

 

I messed with surround settings, tweaked the lows and highs and it does sound better. But at WOT with PSE, AWE cats, and windows down, forget about it...

 

Only reason I don't put the windows down is that is freezing in Chicago right now... but I guess it's somewhat good to hear that this is a known issue with this model. So far it's the only less-than-perfect thing I found about my car.
