This happens to me also but not as much as when I had my Lancer Evolution... Big wing, big exhaust, white car on grey rims and stickers... True racecar! LOL...

The P car holds a different statue on the road... People mostly admire it but you get a couple of fools from time to time trying to race you...

We don't get too many 911's here in Arkansas, so this happens all the time to me. I agree that it's mostly cars that don't need to be racing me.

When I drive my other car which is a Shelby GT500 all the other driver's show a great respect for it.
I often get the thumbs up and other cars just keep clear of me.
The Pcar gets none of that, mostly haters.

This rarely, if ever happens to me for some reason. Most people get out of my way if I'm in the left lane on the freeway as well and I'm not exactly flying. I love it... I feel like I'm anonymous on the road most of the time. I think you'd be hard pressed to find another sports car that offered the same level low profile experience and performance.

What really scares me is when I'm weaving through some light traffic, and I see a 'regular car' or SUV try to follow. They tailgate way closer than I do too. I am playing with fire as is, but I am a couple hundred lbs lighter and have twice the rubber on the road with 13" brakes. I typically let them pass and wish them good luck.

This happens to me (the tailgating) as well, though not a P-car owner for a few weeks; happens with my other cars. I think people just like to follow me because:

1) I don't have a front license plate on any of my cars
2) If I am speeding, it gives them licenses to speed as well.

I think those two philosophies that people have is that if a trooper is gonna pull someone over, it's probably gonna be me because I'm in front.

Funny thing was all the cars were like Camry SE's, 4 door Nissan's and Honda Accord's.
All these people driving very aggressive like they have something to prove.
That's it rant is over.

As a fellow Long Islander, I could not agree more. I get this all the time. Let them go. You know, and they do too, that you could wipe the floor with them anytime.

Yes. It's a common nuisance. Last time a ricer of some brand (couldn't tell which one) pulled up with all kinds of "race" stickers all over it. Figured it was definitely on the bottle and the driver was 18 -19 yrs old. He was revving his engine over and over next to me. Rolled down my window, he rolled down his and he thought I was going to say "lets go" or something but instead I asked him "doesn't he have homework to do" and just drove off.

Sheesh.

Soon after we got our C2S and I joined this forum, someone mentioned an obvious point: people know that if they pull up beside a Corvette and blip the throttle, the driver will leap across the intersection. Porsche owners just smile. At least around here, the other drivers anticipate that and smile back before the light even changes.

I'd say all of them fall into the second category without really expecting me to bite on the temptation, but I did have one guy who pantomimed clearly that he wanted to see me lay rubber. No chance outside a race track. Not at the price of our tires... But I did accelerate fairly briskly that once.

Happens pretty regularly to me. I try to ignore them. The two times it was scary, the other car was a pickup. Somehow they are the worst. First time, it clung to my bumper going up a twisty mountain road, even while I was going exuberantly fast. So I pulled over. The other time the pickup was in front of me at a stop sign, it just sat there, planted, and started burning rubber standing in place, slipping from side to side, then shot off.

If your location (L.A.) means Los Angeles and not Louisiana, then you know Angeles Crest I'm sure. I used to commute from Lancaster to JPL in Pasadena using the Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest roads. I was never terribly exuberant because there's something about an 800' drop that settles the mind wonderfully, but once in a while a hot hatch or another sports car would decide to follow me. Mind, I was only driving a Camaro until that wore out and then a Civic. It would take a big wallet to want to put 120k miles a year on any Porsche, even an old beater.

It had been twenty years since this had happened last and I suppose I was a little blasé because I figured anybody could keep up with.. I think it was the Civic... so one day this fellow attaches himself as I came off Foothill Blvd and I let him hang on halfway up the climb up the Crest. Just halfway. Then his car took offense at a bridge abutment and lost the ensuing argument.

After that, I decided it wasn't the car, it was the training, so even in the mildest of cars, I pull over and persuade people to pass if they catch me on an interesting road. Because 'interesting' to us sports car types can mean deadly to others. Besides, if I hadn't seen that guy get out and stare forlornly at his car, if he'd made the long drop, then I'd have felt obligated to stick around long enough to help the relatives find his body. And Cindy was expecting me for dinner.

Happens a lot. Usually someone in a commuter car riding my bumper through twisty roads. I think the let's race thing happened more when I had a 1970 road runner super bird.

the most fun part of this whole game is to bait them just before a known LEO spot, and watch them fly by into....

Gary --

Yes, L.A. means Los Angeles, and the incident when the truck clung to my bumper was in fact going up Angeles Crest. It was odd how he kept hanging on tight even as I sped up. Eventually I feared for him, plus his persistence started to feel creepy, so I pulled over in one of the turn outs.

Angeles Crest is still one of my favorite drives, and one of the few places around here where most (albeit not all) people are courteous. When I'm in my Range Rover, I return the favor and use the turnouts.

M3's, Mustang's, Ricer's. They rev as they get past me or while sitting at the stop light. I just laugh at them and consider them loser's. I don't wanna be risking my life and reputation to them. I just feel blessed having a 911 as a daily driver. I chose the base Carrera due to it's subdued factor (black caliper's, high ride height, ) but still it get's attention. I'll probably go all the way on my next Pcar, a 991 GT3 RS.
