I used to get this all the time when I had my 993 C4 Cabriolet (3 years)--constantly someone trying to "race" me. I thought it just came with the territory of driving a Porsche.

Surprisingly, however, now that I drive a 997 Turbo Coupe (4 years), I ~rarely~ get anyone trying this.

Either way, I'd much rather have that kind of fun on the track.

I can't hear you over the $2k in maintenance I've spent over 3 1/2 years, and more than 30,000 miles. Unless you think $2k in maintenance is a lot...

This thread is about people wanting to race, not spreading myths.

Nope. Born in Hollywood and raised in Southern California. Newport Beach from puberty onward. But in my youth I was a linguist and I spent a lot of time in multi-national assignments so I've picked a cartload of accents in my speech. I suppose some of them carry into my writing, though I never thought about it much.

Not trying to spread myths nor do I really want to get into it but I guess you are not following manufactuers/dealers services. I do not own a Nissian/GTR but have researched the car before deciding not to buy one.
Back to topic/ I wouldn t want to race a GTR

PS/ didn t want to offend anyone ,, I truly didn t realize I was interacting with a GTR owner.

I don't want to get into it either, but I guess really don't know things about either the GT-R or its ownership.

lol! How does that work?

~"I don't want to say anything, but I'm gonna say something..."

Besides track wear:
$180 oil change at dealerships x 2
$1400 trans fluid change at dealership x 1 (around 13,000 miles)
$ 70 oil change at local tuner x 2

Actually less than $2k.

What part of that goes against manufacturers services? Either educate me, or really - don't get into it.

I m only going by what two dealers advised me of, how about brakes and rotors? How long did you get from the tires?
How does what work? I can only have knowledge if I own it? And you might be right , so what? Doesn t seem that important unless you work for Nissian. Relax.

While I'm usually against making claims like cerbomark did without any source, you're bring up a sample of one: your car. Perhaps cerbomark looked at a much larger sample size...

Let's say you drive and don't stop for 20,000, would you wear your brakes? Obviously not. I wore my fronts pretty quick because of track use. I'm still on the stock rear rotors, and just recently changed out the rear pads for the first time. Does the manual state we should change the rotors everytime we change the pad? Yes. But it is just a recommendation, as they are wear items, and I can change them whenever I want. They are just guidelines.

All season tires ($0 cost option) wear VERY slowly, but I opted for the summer tires and tracked them - they wore fairly quickly, but because that is by choice, and not normal use, I left those out. They cost the same as your tires (~$400).

I guess I just failed to see the relevance of bringing up maintenance costs being expensive, when in fact they are no more than anyone here would expect to pay for their own performance cars (brakes and tires included), in a thread about people racing others. I don't see where/how you felt that was remotely related to the thread topic.

I don't have to work for Nissan to dispel myths, or prevent the spread of misinformation, which is why we all joined these forums in the first place (intentional or unintentional), right? Share experiences, knowledge, etc...?

Of course, and there are people that spend more than me, and less than me. I just didn't see the #1 relevance, and then #2 the persistence of the unnecessary follow up/accusation ("I don't want to get into it, but I guess you are not following...").

The same people who say if you have a nail in one tire, you have to change all four.

Yeah, we deal with stupidity all over (referring to idiot dealerships (redundant), not their customers).

Driving South on Hwy 99 last night here in Cali...I past a Mustang GT because I was just driving faster...not trying to egg him on...but he thought otherwise and re-passed me. I thought about it...looked around and said what the heck....put the hammer down, passed him...if it wasn't for traffic he would have NEVER caught up to me. Mustangs are quick in straight line with that big V8, but when it comes to the twisties and of course the driver...the P-Car will always win...IMHO.

I believe it was more of me going 110 and him not willing to drive that fast as a big factor why I left him, but I feel much more comfortable in a 110 MPH Porsche than 110MPH in a Ford. I've been in an older model at 100 and it was scary..not a stable car at that speed.

The Shelby cars are much quicker...but over all...what car would you rather be seen in???

I have heard you guys have a pretty expensive replacement cost for your brakes.

The one I could remember lately was a Ferrari..who showed behind me suddenly by entering slight 90 degree turns....waited for me to race when it's out.....well, I know I would only see her butt so it didn't happen...hahahaha
