Guess I was looking at the right number...seems like they've come 4 generations since the cap in my car was made.

Yep, even my model year did not come with it. I had to ask the dealer to replace it with a .4 cap thanks to the guys here on the forums.

Thought I'm very new to this arena, and I don't notice any loss in collant, would the cap make that much of a difference especially if it looks to still be in good shape? No disrespect to anyone who thinks otherwise but am just asking a question.

I just replaced my cap with the .04. The old cap was in perfect condition (no leaks) and it was easy to remove. I have 32k miles on the 997.2.
