Rode the 991 on track. Pedal to the metal! The sound the feel the ride everything about it is just miles away from our cars. It will surely appeal to so many customers. Blipping throttle as the pdk downshifts, burble of the exhaust with the occasional backfire. That sedan like ride on public roads and that meaner than a gt3 performance on a track. I ask what will happen to our cars? It felt like it just aged 20 years after the driving event.

well yes been in a gt3 too. maybe i meant that it can equal a 997 gt3. i guess i was overwhelmed by the fact that this basic carrera is as bad as a gt3 on the track. it says a lot about the car. we are comparing a non gt to a gt car of the previous gen. i think that is an achievement, i would not be surprised if the next base gt3 will be faster than the 4.0 gt3rs

I was looking up the price on used 06-07 997s and noticed that there are more firm prices out there. Before Christmas, there were many deals in the low $40k range for a car with less than 40k miles. Right now, most (base and S) are high $40k....low miles are well over $50k. I am not sure what dynamic is causing this....but as a 997 owner, I'm not complaining.
Maybe this is related to the higher cost of the new models. Rolex raises it's price by 15% every other year or so. Now, I can get more for my Rolex than I paid for it 6 years ago! Do you shell out $130k for a well equipped 991S or buy a 2010 GT3 and pocket $20K? You can get a 2008 GT2 for about that much!

The used 997.2 market has actually went up in price the last 2 months. Prob because of the short supply of new 911's but still. Everyone was predicting a crash with the new model in, but with the 991 sky high prices and squirrely looking Panamera back end <sorry just my opinion>, I see more people hanging on to their 997.2's at least until the 991.2 is released.
