09 C4S purchase

Hi, name is Gary and just like many other first time posters, I looking for input on the purchase of a p car. Car I'm looking at is an 09 launch edition c4s cab with 4200 miles, with one year left on warranty. Car is not at a Porsche dealership, therefore not a cpo car. Should I be overly concerned about the limited amount of warranty. My gut tells me to buy and enjoy.
Appreciate any/all input. Gary

That's very low miles for an 09 launch car - nice find. I would do as others will also recommend: get a PPI, DME readout for over revs (I don't know if you have MT or PDK - can't remember if all launch cars were PDK or not...). You can always look into aftermarket car warranty as well.

For the nitty gritty - make sure it has the options you want, exterior/interior color you want, etc etc.

Have fun!
Ron

Scooper, sorry for not adding more info on the car. It is pdk equipped, ruby red, tan interior, heavily optioned. Question, can you over rev a pdk equipped car? Gary
Ps. thanks to all for the quick responses.

Well it's a great car, I have one lol. Powerful without being overwhelming, incredible while turning, wonderful sound with the top down. Plus the best **** and hips of ANY Porsche period. See my avatar pic. Just make sure you get the options you want with the car. Most Porsche options are really hard to change after it leaves Germany.

You might still be able to get the car cpo'ed. Talk to your local Porsche dealer and see if they will CPO it if you pay for it. It does happen if the car passes.

edit: Btw you can NOT over rev a PDK <one of the great reasons to buy one used> unless the computer fails. I had that exact conversation with the service manager for my Porsche dealership. You don't need to worry about over rev's with a PDK car

If you are looking for a good shop to do your PPI, post either here or down in your region a thread titled "Recommendations for a good shop in Louisville to do a PPI".

As long as the car checks out good (ask the shop to give you the dirty on the car) you will have an awesome car. A dealer will also be able to pull all of the work that was done under warranty to catch if there is anything to be concerned about.

I haven't heard of any concerns with the 997.2 and they no longer have the IMS, that is a concern (but easy fix) with 997.1 manufactured prior to mid 2005.

The PDK vs. manual, options and color are all personal preferences and all just an overlay on an amazingly reliable and fun vehicle. So, make sure you get exactly what you really want and you will love it even more.

As far as overrevs, mine had some and it is a manual transmission. They are caused by down shifting because the 997's have a rev limiter. I've had mine for 7 months and it has been absolutely perfect.
