GT-3 vent install kit.

I was researching some DIY winter projects for my car and I came across this company that makes what appears to be a pretty simple kit to install a GT3 bumper vent on your 997 without wrecking your bumper. Here is the YouTube link.
.

Has anyone used it? If so, was it as easy as it looks. Thanks.

I had. it's pretty easy and take the guess work out of the equation... pretty important when cutting ones bumper!
If you want to give it a try, let me know. I have a loan program for the template...

I've got the vent.. and was just looking to Rennline for the mounting clips, but they don't sell them separately. I need to check if that has changed.

With a front license plate on, though, the benefits of the smile (for me, to break up the long single color nose visually) isn't as big of an issue as it was looking at cars without front plates mounted. So I may never mount my vent.

How long did it take to do and how difficult is it to get centered?

probably 30 minutes. The template comes with metal tabs for spacing and it's pretty easy to figure it out when it's centered... You can use a sharp carpet knife (if the bumper is installed) or a jigsaw if the bumper is de-installed.

I just installed the vent and called Rennline about buying just the clips and no Rennline will not sell just the mounting clips. I did the loaner template program from Joel (thank you!) and bought the vent from Suncoast.

If I had to do it all over again, I would buy the kit from Rennline, just for the mounting kit if nothing else.

The only difficult thing about doing the install is making that first cut into a perfectly good bumper.

Thanks for all of the info Joel. If you do it on the car, can you get to the mounting clips on the underside of the vent with the center plug installed? ( the large center plug that fills the spoiler hole where the 3rd radiator would be).

Not that I need to do this, but would a Dremel cutting disc do it faster?

I used the built-ins that the GT3 vent has. I just snapped it into place with double sided 3M take and it's holding fine. There is no way you could reach the inside to mount the brackets with the bumper installed... Important Tip. If cutting the bumper with the bumper in place, Do Not, I repeat, DO Not use a jig saw to cut it. There are 2 AC hoses really close that you can cut by mistake!

Yes, you can use a dremel in very slow RPM's as the plastic of the bumper will melt and you will end with material everywhere.
