Please advise! Fuel gauge problem

I have a 08 C4S cab. Yesterday, my low fuel light came on, but I couldn't find a gas station near me since I was in rural area. I finally found a gas station and filled maybe 5 gallons or so, but the car didn't resister gas at all. So, I proceeded and filled another 5 gallons or so and this time, the fuel gauge was at half tank. I finally came back near home and filled to the top at the gas station where I always fill up. I, then started the car and the fuel gauge is at 3/4. I've searched and found some thread on this. What can I do to fix this? Do I just need to drive to consume all the gas in the tank and fill it to the top again?
Thanks for your help!

Sounds like your fuel sender is kaput. I'd fill the tank all the way so you can keep track of how many miles you can go till empty and then go get it resolved. Not sure on the DIY for a Porsche 997 fuel sender or the complexity. Many other cars I've worked on are quiet easy to replace them. Good luck.

It's normal when you top off with a small quantity - after a fill-up or two, it will be back to normal. From the owner's manaul -

Note
If the tank is near empty and you top up with only
a small quantity of fuel, this cannot be registered
by the level gauge and calculation of the range remaining
is impossible.

Normal... I have to put at least 30 in if I hit the light for it to register

I have the same issue lately - the gauge only registers 3/4 when tank is full.
