Sorry for this rant but I have to ask. Do you guys ever get hit up by someone asking for a hand out when you get gas? So far I have been to two different gas stations and as soon as I pull up they jump on me for money. I hate it. yesterday the guy says:
"sir do you know anyone who needs painting done"
Me "no sorry"
"can you spare some money"
Me thinking WTF "yeah here is a dollar"
"what kind of a car is this"
Me no answer.
"what kind of a car is this" "Oh it is a porsch"

I need to find a different gas station. I feel like writing chevron a letter. This people make it their job to hang out there and ask for money.

I always give them a buck because I don't want to risk them kicking my baby or worse. I just hate it that I am a target!

I always say I dont have any cash on me. Never had anyone get pissed I didn't give them any money.

 

No money from me!! Once I had one of those freeloaders asking me for gas... actually MONEY for gas... So I suggested they pull that truck to the pump and they suddenly did not need it any longer..

 

Good idea! Let's hope also the People react to the 'class warfare' presidential campaign and vote to return America to the land of equal opportunity (not the European land of handouts) come November.

 

Never happened to me but I wouldn't give them a nickel. If nobody gave them money they wouldn't do it anymore. What a sad state of affairs.

 

Agreed, giving them a dollar encourages the act. We have window washers that come up to your vehicle and try to clean your windows for some change. I never let them touch my car, or give them any handouts.

 

I don't mind giving poor the money. I figure their day must be pretty $hitty compared to mine. However it really go to me when I was asked for money when I was jogging... I was like 'really'?

 

We should all give money to the poor, but only with the intent that they quickly get up and move up independently. That is the true spirit of America. Our current path leads us to the European model of a dependent underclass and limited upward mobility.

 

giving money to begger is like paying a prostitute, you just do it so they can go away.

 

Tell the station owner-he'll have ways to get rid of anyone bothering his customers. js
