Aftermarket Wheels for a 997?
#16
Agreed!
Here's a copy and paste from an email we sent to the OP this morning. Wheel weight makes a huge difference on many characteristics of the car. It impacts the following:
1. Brake distance and fade
2. Brake and tire wear
3. Steering responsiveness
4. Ride comfort
5. Initial moment of inertia
6. Acceleration
7. Clutch wear (heavier wheels will require additional slippage of the clutch)
As a rule of thumb, 1 lbs of unsprung weight equals to 3 lbs of sprung weight. Variables that will influence this rule are where the weight is (further away from the center of the wheel is the most important part for weight reduction).
Food for thought.

Love the HRE Vintage Wheels (501). Just ordered myself a set....expensive but every time I look at them I'll be happy I made the investment. You only live once and HREs are the way to go!!

Here are the carbon and black chrome finishes, we have them on different wheels though, but are available for the CV3-Lp too without issues.
Weight for a setup like that you have request info would be 18lbs front and 19lbs rear. I am talking about CV3-LP here! Need more info? Let me know!

Does anyone know if the OEM 997.1 Turbo rims are heavier than the OEM Lobster claws? I read that the Lobsters are the lightest OEM rims Porsche sells but how is that possible if the Lobsters are cast and the Turbo's are supposedly forged? Aren't all forged wheels lighter??

That is a tough answer to give. Most forged wheels are lighter, but it is difficult to say regarding size, width, cast process, forged process and such. You will have to search for a particular wheel set to see the difference.
