Upgrading radar detector to Passport 9500ci?
#34
Dash-mounted would be V-1 or Escort Redline. I run both along with LI. The redline has significantly better range than any other radar detector. The V-1 has arrows.

Thanks man, appreciate the information

Also, I recall reading that the Redline is undetectable by RDDs, but I'm not sure about the V-1. Any thoughts?
I may be in VA next week, and would like to take the 911, so I'm wondering what to do about detectors/jammers. I could get a rush installation of the 9500ci, but it seems that its laser jammer may not be good enough.

My mistake, which happens in email. He was quoting me the unit plus the install. Wheww! So, it's $400-500 for the install, which makes more sense.

SOME porsches have an issue with the 9500Ci that causes a slight alternator whine that is impossible to get rid of...
Before anyone says its the installer, don't. This guy is a nationally recognized installer, and has won many awards for his installs...Escort admitted to him that some 911s have this issue with their detectors....
All of that said, I have had several of these in several cars, and they work great.
Another alternative is the K40 installed with Jammers.. its always a cleaner install ( only 2 lights), but does lack the amount of information that the escort display provides...Im getting used to that, and it has "saved" me several times now!!

I also use windshield mounted detectors. Currently have a Passport x50, Passport 9500xi and Valentine 1.
In the city, the 9500xi is substantially better than all the rest, almost no false alarms. The Valentine 1 is intolerable with it's false alarms, and that's why I decided to change it.
I was also considering the 9500ci for my BMW, but other than the price, I read the installation is a real pain.
Instead, I decided to go with the 8500ci Plus for $800. It has all the options my windshield mount 9500xi has, just with a red backlight screen and no autolearn function.
Most importantly it has the GPS option in it with the database preloaded.

Thanks for that input...was debating between the 9500xi and V1...this helps!

I'm still puzzling over what to do as far getting something with good laser jamming and undetectable by RDDs.
