HELP with replacing rim, getting correct size for 4S

Hey guys I found some Carrera Classic rims for sale that came off a 2011 C4S. The seller states they are straight from the factory with this description:

"The wheels are 19” x 8" (front, Porsche part #997.362.157.03) and 19” x 11” (back, Porsche part #997.362.162.03) BBS cast alloy, and 5x130 bolt pattern. No lugs, caps or TPMS included."

As you know I have a 2009 C4S and all I can find in the manual about my rims is:

8J x 18 H2 front 57mm
11Jx 18 H2 back 51mm

or

8Jx19 H2 front 57mm
11Jx19 H2 back 51mm

or

8.5 J x 19 H2 front 55mm
11.5 J x 19 H2 back 50mm

I checked my tire size and they are 19" tires, original but I can't tell what the rims sizes are. I am assuming they are 19's in the middle but I'm not sure which.

I guess my question is will these rims off a 2011 C4S fit my 09 and are there any issues with tire pressure monitoring etc I should be aware of?

Thank you!

What is your current tire size? You'll be able to tell which wheel size you have from there.

Per your first question, these wheels will fit your car just fine. The tire set up with those 8"/11" wheels will be 235/35-19 in the front, and 295/30-19 in the rear. I run the exact same set up on my car.

Is your second question, 'will my old TPMS work with these new wheels'? That i don't know, but I am guessing the answer is yes as well. Based on the research I've done on the board though, (assuming these TPMS are original) you are better off buying four new units and installing them when you mount the tires if you expect more than another year on the tires. TPMS battery ~ 4 years.

My current tire size "Potenzas" are:

Rear 305/30zr19
Front 235/35zr19

What do you think?

You are able to put those 305's on the 11" wheel.

Great so I will be able to use my tires on the new rims. That's great news!

Thanks for your help, I figured that the 2011 C4S rims should fit my 2009 C4S but it's nice to get some verification here.

Can I ask one more small question? What does the "305" part of the tire number refer to? You said you had a 295, I was just wondering the difference?

you should have a direct match. a 295 wide tire is the next size down from 305, it is 10mm difference and usually transferable

No worries, you shouldn't have an issue getting your tires mounted to new rims. As for your question,

The "19" is inches. That is the rim size.

The 305 (or in my case 295) is millimeters and is the width of the tire.

The 30 is percent...meaning the height of the tire from the rim to the tread is 30% of the width.

Hope this helps...

^^^ Tremendously helpful

<I love these boards and the people on it> thanks!!!! I think I am going to pull the trigger on them. My dealer will transfer my tires, redo the tire pressure monitors and exchange caps, mount balance and reset the computer for $40 a tire or $160. I thought that was pretty fair.

I think that sounds fair. You know, I'd pay more $$ knowing that the shop won't scratch the crap out of my nice new wheels either with the air ratchet getting the lugs on (or off if you were keeping the old wheels), or the steel bar used to take off or put on the new rubber. The things I've seen 'reputable' tire shops (NTB you suck...) done to freshly painted wheels would make your head spin.

If you're original wheels are Porsche OEM you should find the width and offset numbers stamped on either side of the valvestem. For example on the rears you should see 11 [valve stem] 51. Try and stay close to those numbers on your new wheels and you should be OK>

Ah, I didn't know that. Good tip! I bought them today, should be here early next week. I love the Carrera Classic look. Shows off the cross drilled disk and red calipers nicely. Plus they will be a lot easier to clean then my sport classics lol.

Be sure to post some pics of your new wheels when they are mounted. For your knowledge here is a handy offset calculator. http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp

I have a similar question. I am the second owner of a 2007 C4S and would like to buy a second set of wheels for the track.

According to my manual, my wheels are either:
8 J x 19 H2 front 57mm 235/35ZR19
11 J x 19 H2 back 51mm 305/30ZR19
or
8.5 J x 19 H2 front 55mm 235/35ZR19
11.5 J x 19 H2 back 67mm 305/30ZR19

The stamps on the OEM wheels say "8 57" front and "11 51" rear, which matches the first specs. Would the wider (8.5" and 11.5") wheels support the same size tires better, thus improving handling? Is there any advantage to the narrower wheels?

I assume it's best not to mix 8" fronts with 11.5" rears or 8.5" fronts with 11" rears?

Thanks, dave

Your OEM wheels are the correect size. I believe the option listed (8.5 and 11.5) is for the Sport Design (or Sport, I can never remember which) wheels and on a C4 you'd have to add a 17mm spacer to the rear for proper fitment.
