Aftermarket Part Prices

Aftermarket Part Prices
This is something I noticed a lot when the GT-R first came out and a few of my mates were modifying them, but now I'm seeing it a whole new level as I look at purchasing a 996/997 Turbo.
It's almost insulting the prices some companies are charging for aftermarket parts just because it is a Porsche. I'm well aware you have to pay to play, and I'm buying a high dollar sports car. That doesn't mean all intelligence and value of the dollar go out the window.
For example, I was perusing the 911tuning.com site and saw their 2.5" custom intake is $1495.
The kit is literally two rubber couplers with t-bolt clamps, two off the shelf K&N filters and some 2.5" tubing. The same kit on say a 350z would be $400-$500 tops and thats with a good profit margin. The materials are $2-$300 MAX. You're trying to tell me there is over $1000 R&D in each and every bolt on K&N filter kit. Please.
I don't know if aftermarket shops have just gotten so use to owners with more dollars then sense and know they can get away with those prices or what but it's almost laughable.
And with that said.. I'm still going to buy a 911 Turbo...... Guess I'm the sucker.

I get taxed out the wazoo on everything else, I guess it only fitting I have an aftermarket tax on my car too.
It's easier to stomach a Porsche tax than it is a Nissan tax. Some of the GT-R parts are pretty ridicilious. Although I think they've dropped a lot from when it was released, haven't really kept up.
