Getting flats isn't that big of a deal since it's a cheap, inexpensive fix.

Or are you that prone to flats that it's on your mind all the time?
Go back and read my first post. On my own, I can deal with it. I can plug or use the goo and be on my way. But with a family on the 5 or 405, I'm not taking the chance - especially with those Four Seasons bandits. This makes the case for a performance oriented four door sedan, but I digress. Last Wednesday morning, I noticed my rear tire was flat due to a slice/gash in the middle tread from a extra heavy duty utility blade of some sort. The tire is unrepairable (these tires don't leave much room for error when they go and one can even ruin the sidewall driving while flat even for a short distance). No stores that I called had the RE-11s In stock so they needed to be special ordered. Sure, not a big deal when at home. But on the road, with the family on a three day vacation? I replaced both rear tires and I'm keeping the other good one in my garage as a spare. But I'm going to by a Porsche OEM rim to mount the tire so I have a temporary spare. The fronts tires are more readily available.

Hi - Teasing aside, honestly, just get yourself a premier AAA membership. Mine has paid for itself many times over. Each year you'll get a one time tow up to 200 miles, and three others up to 100 miles. You can easily cover the full distance between home and SB with the 200 miles. If you had a flat, ask for a flatbed, toss the driver the keys, he'll take you to Enterprise rental car or wherever, you'll continue your nice weekend and he'll deliver the Porsche to your driveway. No big hastle. BTW, Dana Point is beautiful and I highly recommend the Four Seasons there. My wife and I considered getting married there but opted for Hawaii.
