Who likes the way their 997 turns off?

So I'm still a new to Porsche owner, just over a month now. Still enjoying every aspect of the car and discovering new things. Since day one I've noticed the way the car turns off and this week have come to the realization I enjoy that. It's hard to describe, but I really like the feel of the car at idle, the vibes, the rumbles, the sound of the engine...and then with a short turn its all steady, silent, quiet. Soooo cool!

To me, it doesn't feel like any other car I've driven (though haven't driven anything of this calibre (Honda, Acura, VW, BMW, Nissan, Jag, take a pick from rental fleets))

Anybody else feel the same way or is it just me?

SToronto...completely agree with you, and am in the same boat (have had my car only 3 weeks) and love everything about the car, especially the rumble and engine/exhaust sound all coming from behind you rather than the conventional split sound from the front engine and rear exhaust setup!

I'm happy to report that I've had mine long enough that I now try to start my wife's car on the left side...

Having both a Cayenne and Carrera I tend to do that with any car.

Love the cold start with the raspy exhaust note (amplified by my Gundo Hack) that settles into a nice Porsche idle. Of course, practically every other moment in the car brings yet another tactile or aural sensation that make me glad I own this car (or at least the bank lets me drive it!).

I feel exactly the same way. I've got the PSE with the vacuum hose removed so it's always on. On cold mornings...such a sweet sound the way it's raspy and burbles. I drove her to work today, and that sound first thing in the morning told me the day was gonna be just fine.

The only negative about turning off a Porsche is that means your finished driving......that can't be good!!

Almost all of them do that. Kinda the burning oil smell. It worried me at first until I read the thread on it here. Now it makes me smile. That's just your 911 working up a sweat

The smell was a bit unnerving at first and I check for leaks. Learned later through the forum that this is completely normal, and have now realized that if the car doesn't smell we haven't done our job.

Agree, I love the sound with the stock PSE... but it really only kicks in at 3.5-4K rpm and I'd like to get a similar sound at idle and in the lower revs.
I don't want to change the whole exhaust system to achieve this... would I get results if I only change the cats to an aftermarket 200 cell sport cat?

thx
