Can you feel my pain?

Easy. It was dark and the person was probably driving a Chevy Subdivision and obviously didn't see the car. It's a car, and a minor repair AND the person left his information. It's an inconvenience with a positive outcome and no one was injured. Yes I feel his pain and it was minimal.

As the person in pain". I completely agree, at least no one got hurt.
Whether the repair is minor or not that is yet to be determined, the clearance between the air filter and the back of the car is tighter on the side it was hit that the side that was not hit.
So I guess it will not be a minor " change engine lid and change bumper cover" swap procedure, it most probably be a little more involved than that.
The guy was driving an F150 and he has been decent (so far, decency gets tested when problems show up)
I posted it here because as a "Porschephile" I knew people would understand the "sting" this brought.
On that note denversteve, in my books, you get an A+ on reality check, a C+ on compassion
:-)

As a Realist, I accept you grades as accurate. If you ever want a reality check, I'm your guy. If you ever want compassion, consult your wife.

A guy backed his Lexus onto my C4S's rear bumper while I watched him do that helplessly sitting in the drivers seat inside a parking lot. I was so upset for several months but now have gotten over it. If you use your car as a daily driver these things are bound to happen at some point. I feel your pain. Take some good before pics and take it to a Porsche certified body shop for the repair work, inspect for any damage to the chassis. See if you can get something back for lost value on the car when you try to sell it due to this accident. Good luck.

It is not a daily driver. I will keep you guys posted in the repair. I will be taking it to a Porsche certified repair shop. As far as resale value. I guess the extent of the damage will determine that.

Yes I feel your pain. Hope it all works out for you.
Parking lots are truly some scary places. I've had too many opportunities to sit and watch other shoppers and motorists come and go in various department store parking lots while waiting in the car for the wife to shop. It kind of makes you loose hope for people.

Got a call from his insurance American Family. They were very correct. They wanted to "Recommend" a shop, I insisted on dealership. Porsche certified bodyshop.
Estimate:
Engine lid, center mount, bumper, new decal/emblems
Paint etc etc
2900
DV to be discussed with adjustor.
I sent them pics, detailed, of the bent places/parts needed to be changed
Wll keep you posted.

It's more then an "inconvenience". Insurance companies rarely if ever pay a depreciation difference now. I just went through it with my son's car who was rear ended by an asshat girl talking on the phone while driving. Just simply nailed us while we were stopped at a light. 5k damage, went through the whole diminished value....denied. Unless you can prove that the repairs were not done correctly, you will not get it.
This guy was PARKED, walked past then P-car, put it in reverse and backed right into the car. What kind of a idiot does that?
The reality is that his stupidity just cost the P-car thousands of dollars in depreciation. We all know it, a car repaired from an accident even a relatively minor one is worth less. It sucks, but that is the truth and we all know it. More then a minor inconvenience imo.
