Double Din or head unit Installation Pictures/Video
Does anybody have these?
I have one installed but I need to get to the back of my head unit. I never did the install but all I want to do is plug a USB into the back so I can update the firmware.
Anyone have pictures of taking the dash apart so I can get an idea of where to start?

Its easy - you don't need to take the dash apart.
You need two torx screwdrivers (size 27 and 30 I believe)
you are going to remove one side (or both if you want) of the decorative plastic (or leather depending on your interior options) side covers. (See enclosed picture)
Feel around in the footwell about one inch below the extra lighter socket on the little triangle of carpet on the pasenger side. The carpet is pre-cut to allow a screwdriver through to the torx screw. That is the #30 torx. unscrew it and this will release the little piece of carpet (with the socket - note it is live: don't short it against anything)
That will expose the #27 torx that holds the side panel in place. Remove the screw. There are no other screws.
IMPORTANT: the panel must be pulled directly towards the back of the car. (It is sort of like openeing a sliding door). There are three strong snap connectors along the front edge. It works best to pull the bottom towards the rear first: the panel will pop out one connector at a time.
Don't pull towards the passenger door: you will break the panel.
Once you have the side panel off you can reach the back of everything. Not comfortably, but you can do it.

FANTASTIC!!! Thanks for the help. I will try it out this weekend.
Just to clarify the first torx screw (#30) will release the power plug?
This should be enough for what I need.
Thanks agian.

The first one is T30 the other one is actually T20 (sorry I was guessing from memory yesterday). That first screw is really long for some reason - much longer than it needs to be.
The big screw holds in the little piece of carpet and plastic, the small screw holds the side panel in place. Go figure.
