I know CarMax is not popular at all but think it's worth looking into?

Carmax doesnt allow ppis. Only way to do it is buy the car and take it for a ppi, and return it using their 5 day return policy if something comes up. Sounds stupid to me but thats what thet told me.

It looks nice(lots of photos) and they certainly weren't embarrased to give close ups of worn or chipped areas ( which seem normal for a 35k car - ex; temp switch). Seems like a car you could really enjoy. I would try to get them to throw in an extended warrany, which should handle any big issues and make it more like a CPO. In the meantime if you personally see it and it is as disclosed, I'd take the PPI advice given above with the 5 day return policy, it could work out very well for you. Also, it did not look like the radio has the phone option, so you may not be able to use an integrated bluetooth phone, but could probably add the Parrot bluetooth, which works well.

The car looks ok but are you FRIGGIN KIDDING ME? What kind of jackwagon puts a "CarMax" sticker on the back of a 911!!???? Gawd.

Haha. Uh, that would be Carmax, Katera. No big deal though, I wouldn't say that is a deal breaker for me. See threads on 'debadging your 997'. Same process to remove that hideous sticker.

I bought a Carmax 911 this weekend. I think it was a good deal. They don't have any records on the car. But the cardiac showed where it sold. So I called the nearby dealers and asked if they serviced the car. Found the right dealer and they listed all the car had done. Only issue car came back for other than routine service was a sunroof issue.
I had the car shipped to my area. That was all the money I'd lose if I didn't like it.
But also a forum member was very nice and drive the car and took pictures and gave me good feedback.
The car had an accident on the Carfax and I needed a PPI to tell me how bad it was.
But once the car was here and I bought it to take for PPI, I found te previous owners name and # in the service book in the car. Called the guy and talked for 2 hours.
It was great since the guy had nothing to lose by being honest.
The rear end happened in a parking lot and cost $4k to fix. He said no engine damage at all.
He even told me the shop that did the work so I can get a copy of what was done.
I feel pretty good about the purchase and got a 6 yr/100k mile warranty for under $2500.
It's longer than the 2 year I would have gotten on the 06/07 CPO cars in same price range.
One thing with Carmax, I couldn't get anything for free from them. Their attitude was, if you don't want it then no problem.
