WTB - 996/997 Porsche Roof Rack

Need complete bars/mounts. Can get my own accessories. Figure I'd check here first before Suncoast. Maybe somebody upgrading to the 991?

Located in Chicago.

Thanks!

ECS... I'm looking for the cross bars that go across the roof before I buy the accessories like bike rack, etc.

Can you point me to where I can buy it? Please note, my car is a 997 Targa

Unfortunately, the 997 Targa did not get mounts for a Roof Transport System. The 996 Targa uses the same mounts as the Cabriolet, interestingly, but they were deleted from production in the 997 generation.

Sorry I couldn't help further.

THank you MB7000.... Looking forward to the PM.
But as I understand it, there is no factory "hooks" that came on the 997 Targas?

So I got roof bars from a member in Chicago - THX!

Anybody of a PDF or scan of the instructions? Looks pretty self explanatory - I'd just like to have a copy.

Anyone interested in selling a roof rack for a 2009 4s (997.2)?

for a mountain bike, I was debating between roof and a hidden hitch mount (behind license plate), but am going to try the roof as it can carry a box as well.

any sellers and/or suggestions?

We have the OEM roof transport system found on our site here:

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//99680110500.html

For a mountain bike holder Porsche has a nice system here:

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/95504400266.html

I personally like the fork mount racks from Thule, but you need to take the front wheel off:

Let me know if you have any quesitons. We will be happy to help.

I have rather extensive experience hauling stuff on the roof of the 997 (& Cayman), specifically with Yakima, Thule, and the factory bars.

After the dirt-ridden photo I opted to acquire the Audi Allroad so I don't have to take the 911 off-road anymore, but it does do well. A little more ground clearance is appreciated.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Awesome pics.....love to see these cars getting used. My guess is there were some miles put on between St. Louis and where these were taken. I hauled my bike from KC down to Galveston for a Tri. Awesome road trip.

Yes, now based out of Phoenix so I can train all winter.... Don't miss Missouri snows/ice...... And, just rolled 40,000 miles in the 09. What a brilliant DD.

WOW! I'd seen your picture with all the gear loaded up at the gas station, but that dirt photo is too much!!! I'm impressed... I'm way too **** to do that to my car, but impressed nonetheless I've come really close to installing a rack on my car because I'm an avid cyclist as well. But showing up to a cyclocross race with the Porsche just seems wrong somehow! Can't bring myself to do it.

I'm looking for a roof rack system for my 997. Would prefer (a) used to keep the price down and (b) a Thule system to keep it compatible with my other gear, but I will consider anything.

PM me with what you might have for sale.
