Car Cover

I'm looking for both an indoor car cover as well as an outdoor car cover for a 997S. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

just get a single ply outdoor cover that is soft and doesn't take up that much room. they are easy to put on and off. it'll do fine for indoor use. no need to have 2 covers.

get the california cover superweave or ultraweave. they are expensive but definitely worth the money. shop ebay if you want to find a good used one. a cover for 996, 997 will fit 991 as well. i picked one up for about $100.

I am selling my 997S this weekend. He doesn't have a use for the cover, so I'll give you a great deal on mine. It is an outdoor, custom fit cover with mirror pockets and a carrying bag. PM me or send me an email to jetpilotjr@yahoo.com. I'll give you a deal you can't refuse! I'll get the brand and post it in just a minute. Here's a picture.

Here is the link to the cover. It's a Coverking SP96

i would only get a custom cover if you rely on using it a lot outdoors. the generic cover without mirror pockets easily fly off on windy days if you don't tie it down through the center. trust me, it's worth the money if you use it often. i have had 5 covers in the last 10 years.

Go to Covers Direct, custom fit Noah material for outdoor use. run you about 200$, best protection for outdoor parking.

Recalcitrant, thanks a ton. I sent you an email.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys. If I don't wind up with the one from Recalcitrant, I'll definitely be getting a custom one from another source you suggested.

The car will spend 97% of it's time in the garage, but when I have the race car down at the house for repair/service the 997 will have to stay outside.

b2sc is infamous around these parts
I've always been very happy with the Covercraft Evo4 fabric custom fit covers. I've had 4 or 5 of them over the years and they're breathable, soft and protect the cars well in intense sun, rain, snow (and even hail but luckily it wasn't my 997 that was in the hailstorm).

Our covers are Genuine Porsche and we have both indoor and outdoor options.

Let me know if you have any questions, we would be happy to help!

I have been using covers for many years, daily. Evolution 4 is an older fabric, and in sunlight will last about 3-4 years, after that it degrades and starts falling apart. NOAH lasts longer, but will do the same after 5 years or so. It starts to tear at stress points and its all downhill from there. Weahershield is nice, takes up little space and is light, but its slippery and that makes it harder to put on, and the colors fade quickly.

The OEM Porsche outdoor is nice. Looks like it will last, but I don't like the rear plate window, it can leave marks, and its a little too tight for its own good. Also bird droppings, if left, will eat away at the silver coating.

This in the Hawaiian sun, so YMMV depending on your location.

Make sure you get cover with mirror "socks". I got a cover supposedly to fit the Carrera and it does not have the socks. Heavy wind can blow it off. Contacted company right away but they would not exchange it because it had brake dust from wheels after first try.
Company was CarCoversDirect.com. Lame!!
My advice....Stick with forum sponsors!!
