To "S" or not to "S"?
Wondering what the "S" includes on a 911.. Would like info on the "S" and "4S". Is this an option that is noticeably different? If so, what is noticed?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Depending on the model year you'll see these and possibly other items as standard on the 'S' version. On the '4S' you of course you get 4 wheel drive and big hips as well.
Bigger brakes (ie. red calipers)
3.8l versus 3.6l
Xenon headlights
19" wheels
Active Suspension (PASM)
Sport steering wheel
Aluminum gauges
Twin Exhaust Tips
I might suggest you use the search tool on this forum as well as others since this topic has be covered many times in the past. Google also will yield more information.

Please buy the S, it's worth it. The difference in price is small for what you get. I'm stuck with a base car since I bought it without thinking enough. I will keep it but my next one will be an S or the Turbo.

4S is the way to go...more control and cosmetically wider hips/rear fenders make for a notably nicer look

I have a base cab. Completely happy with how it performs and it is plenty damned fast. I went back and forth a hundred times when i was buying and in the end dont regret my decision at all. If u track it you will want the s otherwise the base is plenty imo.

no track use..a non S is fine...some track use, maybe go for an S....
if 997.2 i think the base is fast enough for DD or track.

If you live in the north 4s
If you live to show off 4s (big hips)
S/non-s: if you are an enthusiast you will miss the extra hp, PASM, xenons, 19s and twin exhaust.
Wikipedia has a good description section put in 997

S model feels much sportier especially if you could get one with sport chrono package. Then you will have an option of stiffening your suspension and making throttle more sensitive. Money well spend.

Difference in price is minimal in the used market. Get an 'S' otherwise you'll always wonder what you've missed. You are going to spend the money anyways, another couple of grand isn't going to hurt that much.
