997 Value
#16
I recently traded-in my T4S for a 991S. I was very happy with the 997 and planned on keeping it for at least a few more yrs, but circumstances made this the best time to trade-in. IMO, the 997 (.2's) have a better looking exterior and have a more pure driving feel.
But, the 991 is more comfortable and the performance is noticeably better. Those are not small things.

991 is not the same...
My dealer let me take a 991 out last month, took it out on roads I know well and put it through the turns. It is a different car than the 997. The power is definitely there, very smooth and fast. The cornering was also quite good, however, my experience was just not the same. I didn't feel "connected" to the car in the same way. Also, the Lexus oriented features and the fuller dash didn't give me any value - otherwise I'd go drive my wife's car. The biggest issue I had was the front end - it felt much more pronounced, and removed the feeling of being right on the road. I drove the PDK version, keeping it in gear, and it was more like a video game than the manual gearbox I'm used to, but that was minor compared to the size feeling of the 991. All things in time, hopefully they streamline this version in a sportier model, but for now I'm very satisfied with the 997. Hope this helps.

I love the 991 and in particular the "S", yet I'd take a standard Carrera. It's another progression of the car. I remember that chatter with the departure from the 993 to the 996 - pretty much the same type of thing.
