Possibly Buying This Car - Questions!
Hey All..
I found a 2010 911 S - Certified with 8,000 miles.. black/black/pdk/chrono for $80k. Seems like a pretty good deal, no?
I have a few questions. I'm not by any means rich, but I'm comfortable, so before I jump into this pool, I was wondering if someone could give me some estimated costs of maintenance on this car.
Oil changes
Scheduled Maintenance Costs
Brakes
Tires
Anything else that you can think of that I'll run into.
Also, insurance. My insurance that I have on my other cars, Esurance, won't even insure a 911 S. Progressive quoted me $300/month, yikes. I'm in Florida. Wouldn't mind hearing what others premiums are and with what company.
OK.. Thanks for the help.

Price seems high. You should talk to the dealer about maintenance costs and the intervals. They aren't Honda cheap, in line with other German cars. But not terrible compared to other high-end cars.
Insurance is HIGHLY variable to your driving record and location, along with the insurance needs for your personal financial situation. You're best to call around. $300/month is insane. Shop around. My Porsche is less expensive to insure than my BMW.

Appreciate the feedback.. What do you think is fair for CPO with these specs/miles? I will definitely shop around for insurance more.

Just curious since you're in So Cal too if your assessment was based on his location or just in general? Reason I ask is because I've been looking for CPO 911 CS in So Cal for a couple of months and 2009 models are in mid 70's and I wasn't sure what I should actually try to negiotiate the price down to. 2010 are even higher than his quoted price

Not sure what the price is for a CPO 2010, haven't really check but you can search on cars.com and autotrader.com to compare.
Maintenance is going to be different everywhere. Oil/filter change here is around $200, there is someone on this forum said their dealer charges $450. An indy shop will be around $120-140. 20K service is around $400 to $500, brake flush around $200 at a dealer. So obviously more expensive than an Acura, BMW, Mercedes but cheaper than an exotics. $300/month for insurance is insane. I pay $66/month with progressive, with multi-policy, good driving record. I'm married with kids, mid 30's.

You are right. Cars in that range usually have mileage in the area of 18-30k on them. There are cars out there with less. I have been looking for a c2s 09 for a couple of months and have noticed they have gone up in price down here in Florida.

Price sounds fair for a asking price. Maybe shave a grand or two and make the offer when you are ready. I went low 70s for my 09S, coupe, six spd from Fla, with even less miles than yours and CPOd. Is yours a cab or coupe.. Seems like coups are harder to sell in Fla and dealer may want to move it.
That insurance is crazy... I go about $700 a year for the porsche. (Liberty Ins.)

Case in point: A buddy of mine here in Miami just (in May) sold his babied 2009 C2 coupe with 11K miles. He bought off his lease for the residual of $48K. Dealer offered $55K for trade in (and would probably list for at least $10K more). He sold it private party for $58K.
It's crazy how much of a killing the dealers are making on these CPO's!
I also wish I was looking back in 2009!

+1 Non-CPO cars are much less and private sales have great deals. IMHO I would purchase the CPO for a little more just for the piece of mind.

I think you can find a similar car for at least 10k cheaper that is not CPO. My car had 30k miles in a very short time and was heavily modded with absolutely no problems. I think the CPO is not worth the extra costs. You can find a private sale in the high 60's.
