Thanks Gonz
I hope not. I do like the way the Gundo/Fister exhaust sounds - that's one reason I decided to go this route. I'll have to wait and see...

Center exhaust 997.1 C2S
The exhaust work is complete, and the shop just sent me some photos. I'm still out of state so I haven't seen it yet, in-person. I figured I'd be somewhat subject to the old adage: you get what you pay for, but I think I may have done slightly better than that this time. The total cost for the exhaust includes $150 for tips, and $300 for the work, which includes about $100 in stainless steel, per the guy at the shop. I think the tips stick out a bit farther than ideal, but I don't imagine that it will be a big deal. Squatting down and looking at the read of the car, I could always see a bit of my old exhaust - see the photos earlier in the thread, and it looks like that will be the case with these new pipes. The second thing that seems less than ideal is that it looks asymmetrical, as the pipe on the driver side is a bit lower than the one on the passenger side. I'm not sure it will be that noticeable when viewing normally.
One idea is to work on the heat shielding, as that seems to be part of the issue - I'll try to make that symmetrical and maybe paint it black.
Also, the GT3 graphics will be removed and the bumper will be painted black to match the car. It's just on with a test-fit at the exhaust shop

great result! can you get a picture from underneath? Also a picture from ground level from the rear?
I am worried about the reduced ground clearance.

Your car is going to look great, pretty much the same as mine, as I have a GT3 front, GT3tek side skirts and a Misha GT3 rear bumper and my car is black too.
Congrats, looking forward to seeing the finished product

Thanks 119!!
Latest is that I have a few more pics of the exhaust with the heat shields on and bumper off. I'll post them when I have a chance. The shop didn't finish the car by Friday (darn), so they are going to keep the car all next week, as I'll be out of town after Tuesday. Should have it on the 22nd or 23rd latest.
Thanks! I don't know if I have any close-ups - I'll look. Otherwise, i can shoot some when I get the car back. In the meantime, I did start a thread on wheel stripes and that has some photos of my car before/after as well as some examples from other members. Let me know if you have any more questions about it, and feel free to remind me later if you want those close-ups.

Not sure if anyone's interested, but here are those photos with the bumper off and the heat shield on - see below. The body guy thought that the symmetry was off in the photo bc the exhaust guy just hung the bumper casually, without lining it up properly. He seems to thing that whines will line up nicely, but there might be some of the heat shield visible - but not as much as was in the previous photos. I asked him to paint the heat shields flat black with engine paint and he agreed. We'll see how that goes. In the meantime, here are the latest photos, and still expecting to pick it up around the 22nd.

OK - I've finally got some pics. The project is nearly done, but there are some issues that still need to be addressed. Some show up in pics, some don't, but I figure I'll throw it all out there. I used a body shop that's done quite a bit of work on my previous 911, my 944 race car, my Passat wagon, and my Suburban. I trust them, but they are a budget shop. So, as I've said before in this thread, I understand you get what you pay for, so I'm suffering a bit now, I believe. Sure, I could go to another shop, but it would be more money, and I'd have to build a new relationship. That discussion probably belongs in another thread. Anyway, here's where we're at:
The good:
- as previously stated, the exhaust looks really good!
- the front bumper looks pretty darn good
- the GT3 vent looks great!
- the rear bumper looks pretty darn good, but - see below
- the skirts look really good, but...
- the roof spoiler paint looks awesome! but...
OK - so the not so good:
- my LED tails are messed up. Not sure why, but the OEM ones work great. I have a note into Frank at Orange, but he's on vaca. We'll see. Mostly, the rear passenger is not functioning properly. I can't believe it has anything to do with the shop, but who knows.
- the airbag light is on. Need to go to a different shop to get the code read/cleared as the body shop doesn't have a porsche computer
- the hood release in the car is a bit messed up. The guy fixed it, but I'm not sure it's completely fixed
- the skirts need a bit of cleaning up
- the bumper was damaged a bit when I brought it to them - I bought it used. The shop fixed it, painted it, and put it on, but it buckled a bit again and the paint is cracked, so it needs to be re-worked
- the roof spoiler isn't staying put. I need to call GT3Tek. They almost had it set, but then they said it bubbled up while out in the hot sun in 95 degree weather, so they removed it. (I took some photos with it off, and I laid it on the car to take a few more photos)
- as a last minute thought, I had them paint the squirters. Bad idea - they didn't really come out well. Ugh...
unrelated to the shop - I need to buy a new lip. They offered to paint it, but I need a new one. Considering how nicely the roof spoiler came out, I probably should have had them paint it. 20/20 hindsight...

Some initial thoughts: the skirts are big, and low, and they stick out enough that I need to change the way I exit the car. I need to be very conscious of that so as not to nick them up. I also have to be wary of passengers. I just picked it up today, so we'll see how I feel about them down the road.
Overall, the look is tougher and it seems to flow well. I need to get the above items sorted out (particularly the LED tails and the roof spoiler) to see how it looks in final form. With that said, I think it really needs a tail.
Here are the photos:
Very interested in feedback and questions. I will update the thread as the issues are sorted, and I'll add photos as the car gets finalized.
Edit - here are a few more shots of the rear - dead on...

Quick update: the car does look awesome. I'm getting a bunch of looks and complements. I went to the dealer and the reser the airbag light at no charge, so that's resolved. I contacts GT3Tek about the roof spoiler and they'll send some new adhesive so I'll be all set on that, when I take the car back for the clean-up work. The only other issue is the LED tail on the passenger side. I'm convinced that it's faulty and I'll work with Ray (hopefully) on a replacement when he gets back from vacation.
It only took one day to get used to stepping over the side skirt, and now it's natural.
In short, I'm very please so far. It looks great, and the exhaust sounds perfect.
The car has an OEM look to anyone who's not really an expert on the 997. It looks mean but not too boy racer. If I ever get a wing, that would be a different story!
