Snapped headlight bulb
#16
I am in the same place as you Austex. I rotated the tool the wrong way and snapped the head off the bow. I have the necessary bow etc to replace but its gaining access to the tray which is a pain!
Any help appreciated.

I have not addressed the issue yet but am sure that I will have to once I have to replace the bulb. My understanding is that I will have to remove the wheel liner to gain access.

Hmmm right I've just had a look. It is virtually impossible to remove the tray with headlamp attached. Unsure if by taking the front PU off would make the task easier.
Good news though, hopefully, you can still change the lamps from inside the wheel arch. All screws are accessible so removing the rear of the lamp should be pretty easy along with replacing a blown lamp.
This is my next job, hopefully in the next few days, so I will report back. I've purchased a set of Phillips Xtreme Power lamps to improve the awful yellow tinge of the halogens whilst also improving visibility.

Broken headlamp release
I just did the same thing this weekend when I removed the bumper to install a GT smile vent and radiator mesh guards on my 06 4s. I had to us the new head lamp plastic plate that the head lamp assembly sits on. $145.00 from my Porsche dealer. I had the front wheel removed already, and removed the upper wheel inner plastic guard. This allows you to gain access to the rear nut of the plate. 10mm open end wrench. Remove your turn signal on the side that's broken to gain access to the two front 10mm nuts. The nut on the right side is the hardest to get to but do able. Small turns at a time and then slide the whole unit out with head lamp assembly attached. Once out, I used a screw driver to flip the lever open to remove the head lamp assembly. Patience is the key to this. Good luck!!

Cheers. Changing the lamps should be easy. If I ever need to replace the headlamp then, maybe broken, then I will just slowly cut it away therefore accessing the tray anyway. A few ways to skin a cat.
