Skeptical on Silver!

Skeptical on Silver!
Please help me out - been looking for a 05-06 911S for a while now and found one locally that pretty much meets my every requirement (and its a great deal!) except that it is silver! I was never a fan of silver and can't stand the fact that everyone and their mother drives a silver car! My color preference would be black or darker hues of grey / blue. Did anybody 'settle' on a silver porsche to change their mind later of how they thought about the color?
One thing to note is that I do not have a garage therefore the car will be parked outside (and I realize that silver has the 100% advantage over any other color due to that factor). So my question is do I keep looking until I find exactly what I want (might be another couple months? have to go out of town to pick it up...sight unseen, etc...), or give the silver a shot and see if it grows on me within time? I do not 'hate' the color it just appears so 'bland' with no 'character' to me especially on a luxury/sports car such as a porsche.

Silver will grow on you. There is a reason it is the most popular color. Your Scottsdale summers will be brutal on black cars sitting outside all the time. Not to mention how much more you'd have to wash it. I've probably had every color car under the sun. As of now I have three silver ones and two black ones in the garage. I can tell you the black ones takes twice the effort to keep it looking good as the silver ones. My neighbor had the best quote on black cars when he saw mine: "That will be the first and last black car you will ever own." He wasn't exactly correct, but I don't disagree. Sometimes you just have to do it and find out yourself why so many people buy silver colored cars...

I personally love Arctic Silver, and at least in Central Ohio, I haven't seen another one- they're always black or white. I flew half way across the country because it was one of the must haves in my search.

After a 1/2 dozen silver cars (and one black one, will never own black again, i'm too **** and hated to drive it because it always showed dirt!) I'm majorly into white. I have two white/black cars right now.
Agree that silver is over done. Hell BMW has like 6 different shades of silver/grey they offer!
Silver does have the advantage of being very, very easy to maintain compared to red, black, dark blues.
That said, the 911 does look great in Silver. It's just not my current cup of tea.
I am taking a liking to Blues lately though....

Per the silver, I went from silver to grey, wanted white, but I'm happy. I wouldn't settle, if you hate silver, wait!

and the car before was silver also.
but I say 'don't settle'.. u gotta like the color u own, no?
BTW AZ heat & dark colors won't be easy, especially if you are parking it outside.

Don't buy a car in a color that you hope will "grow on you". It never will.
When I was looking, it seemed every car was silver, grey or black. I wanted something different and have always loved the Porsche blues. I really miss the jellybean colors of the 70's. Would have loved a Mexico or Riviera blue. Ended up with Lapis blue and so glad I waited for the right one!
Also, I have heard that silver fades badly in the sun and is next to impossible to color match if any damage occurs. Does this sound right?

I had a 997C2S in Arctic, and another one in Seal Gray. When I bought my GT3, I wasn't too excited that it was Silver again, but I quickly fell in love with the car.

When I first bought a 997 I thought I wanted silver but settled for black. Turned out it grew on my big time, maybe a form of imprinting. Anyhow, when I replaced it I bought a used arctic silver 997. I thought I liked the color, but I think it was because I'd watched the Top Gear Isle of Man episode a dozen times. Almost 2 years later, I still wish I had bought another black one, and every time I see one in black I am jealous.
